I feel as if Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends is the best possible choice of the massive library of games to come to the Nintendo Switch. Having most of the DLC at your fingertips offers players an insanely large amount of game to play. Though I do believe that most people will probably play only so much of the game, folks with a tight budget will appreciate the amount of content Koei Tecmo has put into this game. It can get repetitive if you play it in long game sessions, but at least you are always working on levelling or acquiring new items. Plus you can’t beat portable Lu Bu!!

Having said that, DW8XLDE is an extremely polished entry to the series and its port over to the Switch has compromised nothing. If you’re looking to break up your usual gaming fare to get your power-hungry action fix, I can hardly think of a better alternative.

May be the very best Dynasty Warriors game out of twenty years of choices and now you can take pseudo-historical one-man armies with you on the train. Dangerously close to being the perfect Warrior.

Whether you enjoyed Dynasty Warriors 8 when it initially launched or the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, this version has a lot more to offer and it really feels that Koei Tecmo and Omega Force knew that going in with a dedicated Nintendo Switch launch.

DYNASTY WARRIORS 8: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition is probably the most content-rich, sit-down and zone-out kind of game that has ever existed. With a multitude of modes at your disposal, and with friends in tow, you can’t go wrong with this.

Overall, Dynasty Warriors 8: Extreme Legends Definitive Edition is a great addition to the Nintendo Switch and a great place to start with the series if you've never touched a Musou before. The only real complaint that I have is because all of the other series have spoiled me at this point in which when you fail, you still get experience points instead of being booted back out to the main menu. That's the only real complain to an overall great re-re-release of the 8th entry. With how well this transitioned to the Switch, I do hope to see Dynasty Warriors 9 in the near future!

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition Is certainly a 'marmite' type of game: You're going to love or hate it. If you're a fan of the previous instalments this should be on the "must play" list as there is quite enough depth to the game to keep you occupied for hours. However, if you're not a fan of an almost endless mob killing extravaganza then I would stay clear of this game as it really won't last long and you will end up playing something else.

GOOD - At a cool 40 bucks, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends – Definitive Edition lives up to its namesake as the definitive way for fans of the series to experience Dynasty Warriors on the go. While its outdated visuals and overall lack of polish is a bit of a disappointment to see, the core gameplay continues to be rock solid and isn’t showing any sign of cracking soon.

At the end of the day, I loved this game when I reviewed it years ago, and Koei Tecmo has given me a wonderful port with even more content. I know some will think the $39.99 price tag is a bit much. But I still feel with this amount of content and the fact you’re getting the best portable version of the game ever, that it is totally worth it. I mean, they say some things age badly, while others age like fine wine. Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition is an example of the finest wine!

Really, the only thing I found disappointing with this re-release was the voice acting, which has been locked to English.

Complaints of repetition will probably ring true for those who want to complete every activity the game has to offer, but on a mission to mission basis, the greater nuance added through the different gameplay modes, characters, and weapon systems has resulted in a significantly more rewarding and strategic game. Yes, the focus on fast-paced action on a large scale remains unchanged, but actually thinking ahead feels more important now than ever before in the franchise.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition won't win over any new fans due to the core act of long battles against hapless minions, but existing fans will love the sheer amount of content here. With the many long modes available and all of the DLC present, this title offers some real value, and while the presentation isn't breathtaking, it is good enough to keep up with the relentless action. For fans of the series, DW8 on the Switch is well worth picking up.

This is a technically efficient port for Dynasty Warriors 8 with a solid performance that adds plenty of extra content to the game. It is easily the best Dynasty Warriors available now on the Nintendo Switch.

While it might seem odd for Omega Force to opt to port the five-year-old Dynasty Warriors 8 over the more recent Dynasty Warriors 9, it's by and far the right decision for Nintendo Switch owners. Not only is Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition the best version since Dynasty Warriors 5, it comes to the hybrid platform offering more stable performance than the versions that once graced PS3 and Xbox 360. Even when its framerate takes a knock when playing co-op, it's a remarkably robust port boasting an obscene amount of content fresh out of the box.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition delivers what its title promises: a definitive edition of Dynasty Warriors 8. In an effort that includes a very rich amount of content and a good, interesting, and versatile gameplay, this immense effort also features a long and healthy lifespan, and while it could use some improvements regarding fluidity problems on multiplayer and short term repetitiveness, this is without a doubt one of the best versions of the Dynasty Warriors series.

It’s tough to have to pick between sharp visuals or consistent performance, but when it comes to this kind of game, performance is key, and they nailed it with this port.
