It's an undeniably cute platforming adventure that's sure to provide a good few hours of enjoyment, but this is mostly due to it not stepping out of the norm. The Adventures of Pip does little wrong simply by not doing much at all, its colorful stages, tight mechanics and often humorous writing are all disappointingly dulled by an overwhelming and unshakeable sense of déja vu.

Adventures of Pip is a solid platformer with a clever little gameplay mechanic, but ultimately doesn't do all that much with it. That being said, away from the mechanics, it was also good to see one of these retro-themed platformers do something more with the art style than simply have it as window-dressing. Adventures of Pip actually turns pixels into part of the gameplay, and that's neat.

Overall, Adventures of Pip makes the biggest mistake a game can make: being boring. While the game had a lot of potential, it is brought down by being unmemorable. A great soundtrack cannot justify bland level design, a restrictive bit-switching gimmick, and a lacklustre story. There are far more imaginative and innovative platformers on Switch that deserve a look over this.

Though the pixeled ideas of Adventures of Pip are fantastic, mediocre gameplay execution causes them to lose all their edge.

Overall I enjoyed Adventures of Pip for its novel aspects and sighed my way through the parts that let it down. If I could go back in time I would definitely play Adventures of Pip again -  frustration, failed witty comments and all - though I'm not so sure I will play this game again anytime soon.

Adventures of Pip has a brilliant mechanic with some fun stages, but lacks the level design and difficulty needed to be a high-res star.

Adventures of Pip is a fun 2d side scrolling platformer with the twist of changing your moveset on the fly. While I have minor problems with the game it should not be overlooked in the slightest. The charm and gameplay had me wanting to keep exploring Pip's World!

I had a good time playing through Adventures of Pip’s platforming escapade and it does have some really neat ideas, even if it doesn’t always utilise them to their full potential. Take the form-swapping for example: it’s a clever mechanic that could allow for a lot of versatility in the level-design, but it instead restricts you to having to utilise specific and often obvious abilities to progress. It’s not a game-breaker by any means and it didn’t stop me from enjoying my time with the game, but it does show that it could have been a lot more. Still, those looking for a fun platforming fix on their Nintendo Switch will certainly have a good time with Adventures of Pip, even if it might not light up their lives as much as similar titles in the genre do.

It isn’t difficult to see why Adventures of Pip is still making the rounds on various consoles, despite its age. It’s a fun platformer with a unique gimmick that not only adds to the game but celebrates some of the many forms in which video games have come. It’s not the very first game that I would recommend to Switch-owners. However, it’s still one that I would suggest to those looking for new platforming worlds to explore.

Adventures of Pip is still enjoyable and inventive, but I'm less forgiving of its quirks now than I was in 2015. I still recommend it, though--the gameplay hook is lovely and the writing is charming.

The indie platforming scene is thriving, and the 'Adventures of Pip' is another example of why that's happening. It tells a light and fluffy story but does it with panache, love, and great controls and mechanics. It's perfect for platform fans who want to take a trip down memory lane, or anyone who enjoys jumping on the heads of bad guys.

Adventures of Pip is the good kind of nostalgia: it doesn't simply mimic the production values of vintage games, nor does it feel the need to constantly allude to their existence. Instead, it revives the design philosophies that made those old titles so inspiring. The result may not be the most forward-thinking game ever produced, but it also doesn't need to be. For anyone looking for a light-hearted platformer with a firm understanding of its own mechanics, Adventures of Pip is the best choice available since Shovel Knight.

The team at Tic Toc Games have done a great job here for sure, but we just wish that there was either more volume to it in general, or more of a challenge to what is provided. It's definitely an enjoyable enough way to while away a couple of hours.

Adventures of Pip is a fun, ambitious action-platformer with an original concept, but it has a frustrating power-up system and sparse (though excellent) music.

Adventures of Pip is another welcome title to the growing library of platformers that make an extensive use of pixel art and boast a retro-style visual inspiration as well as multiple puzzle-solving. Each level brings new elements to keep the players closely around the game and its level of challenge goes beyond the plot, encouraging the player to explore and go further.

Adventures of Pip is sure to provide any fans of the genre with a good few hours of fun, and offers up some very interesting gameplay mechanics to boot. Unfortunately, the game is undermined by some niggling issues and poor design choices, but these don't hinder it enough to obscure an otherwise charming and intelligent little outing.

Adventures of Pip is an inoffensive platformer that doesn't do a whole lot wrong, but it won't stand out in your mind a few days after beating it. While it does last though, it'll bring a smile to your face.

Even though Adventures of Pip has far too few new ideas, the skeletal system we've played in other games still holds up under a new coat of pixels.

While there are loads of reasonably-good platformers on the Switch many of them typically have a difficult time to stand out from the rest with new worthwhile ideas...
