Mortal Kombat 11 is possibly the best game in the series yet, thanks to its smooth fighting mechanics, and fun online and local modes. However, the awful microtransactions and the grind required to unlock items truly hampers the overall experience.

As someone who has played every entry in the Mortal Kombat series since Mortal Kombat 2 I have no problems admitting this is the best entry in the series yet. It’s story mode is entertaining and pushes the lore of the whole Mortal Kombat universe forward. But outside of that, there’s plenty that will keep you coming back to the game whether you choose to play it’s numerous single player modes to continue to collect new gear or if you want to try your hand or play competitively online.

For fans of the series, Mortal Kombat 11 is probably the best they’re going to get for a while, as it certainly ends the current storyline NetherRealm started in MK 9. Save from many missing characters, fans will be pleased to see how much time and care NetherRealm Studios put into the game and will have some great time with it. It’s unfortunate some of the modes require way too much skill to beat.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the biggest fighter in the franchise yet. The story is rich, the cast is great and the focus on eSports is great. The game is not perfect, with the biggest flaw in the in-game currency. When it comes to fighting, perfection is neared.

Featuring an entertaining time-bending storyline and a better fighting system than ever before Mortal Kombat 11’s persistence in grinding and cheap mechanics nearly spoil everything outside of the fight.

Mortal Kombat 11 offers a neat playing experience, perhaps a little more visceral than the Injustice games which tie with the DC franchise and therefore have obvious limitations. As a next stop for the MK series, this game ticks all the right boxes in every department which is good. However, it is plagued with elements needing a closer inspection and fixing. As it stands, MK 11 is worthwhile for the asking price and if you’re a fan a no-brainer purchase. That said, if you’re not a fan of the comical gore and rather serious overtones then this is perhaps not worth an immediate look-in, rather a wait-and-see until it’s up to scratch or until it drops in price.

It’s fantastic for old lovers and newcomers to the franchise, and a great entry point to anyone looking for a quick fighting game fix, but would also love to experience the immerse genre of fighting games. The most accessible, and also, the most extensive fighter out right now. Mortal Kombat invites all gamers out there to experience what is great in the fighting genre, and it’s latest entry is definitely proof of it. Mortal Kombat 11 is definitely the best fighting game I have ever played.

Mortal Kombat 11 is an exceptional recipe for anyone who loves Netherrealm games. Nederlands Studios has made the gameplay more positive than ever before by making positive changes to the gameplay, and the few improvements made have made the campaign more sensitive and tactical than ever. MK 11 is a benchmark for Western Fighting. Given the long-standing promise of long-term support for the game, it is easy to recommend this title to anyone looking for valuable fighting to be entertained for a long time.

Mortal Kombat 11 is a step in the right direction, after the stellar MKX. Not only builds a better story that's simple enough to follow, but also shows some great development for classic characters and show us that even in a game that's only fighting, there's some interesting stories to tell.

Mortal Kombat 11 will draw in players due to its stellar story and easy to grasp combat system. Hardcore fans of the franchise will enjoy it, and more casual gamers will find it to be a solid rental.

It's a bitter pill to swallow because Mortal Kombat 11 is actually a really fun and enjoyable fighter. It's gory, gruesome and full of some of the most absurd, crazy fatalaties in the series' storied history. The fighting has multiple layers of strategy too, ranging from X-Ray moves, counters, interactive environments and more. This game should be a high 7/10 or even an 8/10 but I just cannot recommend something with such predatory microtransactions in. Mortal Kombat 11 could be great, but it suffers a gruesome fatality at the hands of its microtransaction-riddled infrastructure.

There are some speed bumps along the way that prevent this game from being truly amazing, but for what it is I am thoroughly enjoying my time with it.

Mortal Kombat 11 is filled to the brim with incredibly characters and game modes. You'll come for the story mode, but stick around for the Towers of Time.

Mortal Kombat 11 is both the franchise at its best and at its worst with great fighting mechanics that are a big step forward combined with the bell and whistles of the service model that currently plagues the industry.

Despite the faff and taint of shady modern practices, it is still a competent and well worked fighter. The length of moves and tricks at hand, as well as the wealth of extra skills to learn is staggering, coupled with a very strong roster of new and old favourites. Combat has been reworked and tweaked to suit a faster fight system, and there is enough customisation to suit most kinds of playstyle for each character. Push aside the flaws and embrace it for the legacy that Mortal Kombat has created for itself.

For me, it shows how deep the MK lore has become, how many interesting and surprisingly well-developed characters the games have, and how easily the franchise could carve out a narrative-focused niche for itself.

If it wasn’t for Towers of Time’s reliance on grinding, Mortal Kombat 11 probably would have been my favourite fighter of the generation

Mortal Kombat 11 is the perfect next entry to the series, which raises the classic elements of the fighting game to a higher level. You can blame title that it feels less brutal than the previous iterations, or that on some points it resembles a bit of mechanics from mobile games. But its foundation is clean, polished and fun. For fans of the series, this is a "must have" title. On the other hand it's a shame to see usage of grindwall mechanism in a 60$ game.
