Much like its predecessor, Rage 2 stirs up Doom, Borderlands and Mad Max and comes out slightly less than the sum of its parts. Outside of some dreary lulls in the action, the characterful apocalyptic open world is a blast, with each settlement or point of interest a little pocket of adrenalin-soaked, heart-troubling frenzy that'll have you begging for the next fix.

A brainless and crazy adventure that pulls brute force to sneak into the most fun of recent years. A success in capital letters of Bethesda, id Software and Avalanche Studios.

Rage 2 excels as FPS for its agile gunplay mixed with killer skills. It is a pity that the open world, despite the effort to present different biomes, has so little to offer.

Where RAGE 2 truly shines is its relentless, unapologetic, apocalyptic violence, which has long been id Software's forte. If your video game library is hungering for fresh blood, guts, and gasoline, you should definitely buy RAGE 2.

The collaboration between id Software and Avalanche Studios brought us a nice open-world first person shooter, despite a bunch of issues with the world building and a shallow plot.

Rage 2 is ugly, silly, and dated, and yet, I still enjoyed the hell out of most of my time with it. The game delivers the kind of low-stress, high-satisfaction fun you don't often get from big-budget games these days. If you're willing to check your brain at the title screen, I suggest you jump into this apocalypse now.

Although Rage 2 features fantastic close-quarters combat, things tend to slide downhill once you drive out into the open world.

Each piece holds satisfaction and joy that belies its base description, however. Combat in Rage 2 feels smooth as glass, with every gunfight playing to a violent rhythm. Travelling throughout the world is fast and engaging, with every pit stop bringing new wonders of varying quality.

Rage 2 is one of the year's most disappointing titles. However, the shooting is some of the best this generation when you've finally dedicated enough time to unlock different abilities and poured a couple of upgrades into one of the best shotguns in gaming.

A pretty well done FPS game, with some problems with it structure as an open world game.

An unbridled joy to play, RAGE 2 is something that puts an onus on having fun and has no pretences of being anything else beyond that.

Oh, what a day! What a lovely day! Rage 2 comes screaming into the world adorned with pink neon and a stinking attitude problem. Big guns, fast cars, blood-soaked combat and a ridiculous sense of fun make for one of the most thoroughly entertaining games of 2019.

Would I recommend this game? Yes, purely because it is so much fun to play, it's random, over the top and bat shit crazy. I guess that is one thing that sets it apart from other open worlds, I don't think there is much if anything that is as crazy in the open world genre as this is. Rage 2 will more than likely consume a lot of hours of your time with all the different things there are to do within the world, but it's so much fun that you probably won't even notice. Just one more mission?

Rage 2 took the definition of fast shooter to a brand new level and despite its problems, title is able to keep you entertained thanks to its great movement & fighting system. It is just a pity of some unused potential, Rage 2 has aspects that can be seen as a clear extension of the otherwise totally worn-out FPS genre.

RAGE 2 is doused in neon, bright colors, and blood. This post-apocalyptic punk-wave world is an absolute blast thanks to the co-development of id Software and Avalanche Studios blending styles and ideas. I wish there were more main missions as they are often the most exciting part of the game, but this is a game where you make your own fun. It has a better and satisfying ending over the previous, and has a fully-realized open-world with things to do that doesn’t ever waste your time. RAGE 2 has been worth the wait. When combat is in full swing, its kinetic energy and momentum is the most stupid fun you can have.

The original Rage didn't live up to expectations. Marketed as an extensive narrative-driven FPS experience the game was negatively criticized for having a short and lukewarm campaign but had strong gameplay mechanics. Rage 2 is an improvement from the first game, focusing on high intense gameplay with a moderate improvement in its narrative. However, the oversaturation of optional tasks dominates the core campaign's meager offerings. With the game overrun with tedious busy work until the next part of the campaign is triggered. Rage 2 has its ups and downs but overall it's a solid FPS that is a step up from the previous entry.

If narratively shallow yet entertaining movies are popcorn flicks, Rage 2 is the ultimate popcorn game, and that’s okay.

RAGE 2 is a bombastic blast to play from beginning to end. The game's combat offers some of the most satisfyingly enjoyable shooting found in a video game in years. Whilst the open world elements add little to the package with repetitive side content, the core gameplay loop is more than enjoyable throughout. At 30fps base console owners should beware, ideally experienced on the enhanced consoles or a PC. RAGE 2 is simply a straight up fun video game.
