Even the most jaded of battle royale fans will find their interest rejuvenated by Apex Legends thanks to Respawn's attention to detail, superior gunplay, and fantastic innovations, even if the loot boxes and progression system need addressing.

The battle royale genre has become a crowded field, with many developers and publishers attempting to cut their own piece of the pie since PUBG and Fortnite skyrocketed the genre. Now, Respawn Entertainment decided to throw their hat into the arena with their own game that was leaked and released in under a week, Apex Legends. As a free-to-play game, Respawn Entertainment has successfully created an incredible game using the formula.

Apex Legends provided more than what PUBG and Fortnite, even Blackout, had to offer. Despite having 60 players in the map, a forced squad-based battle royale with an impressive ping system, an awesome cast of Legends with peculiarly amusing dialogue, outstanding overall game performance and smooth gameplay, Apex Legends is the best battle royale game out there.

My mother always told me that forgiveness is a virtue. EA, publisher of Apex Legends, has made it difficult to embody this attribute because over the course of many sunken dollars, they have disappointed me with undelivered promises, pricey in-game transactions, and abandoned developments. However, like a beaten dog, I’ve come whimpering back to their wide open, well-polished arms. Apex Legends is fun, it’s addicting, and the urge to play JUST ONE MORE is ever present. It’s difficult to say after not even a week since its launch, but if you’re looking for the next big competitive game, Apex Legends might just be it. I, for one, will be happy if it is.

Every other shooter that comes out these days has a Battle Royale mode tagged on or has one in the pipeline but Apex Legends stands head and shoulders above them all. It’s mix of slick and fast paced gameplay coupled with its intense and constantly moving combat is going to be hard to surpass.

Apex Legends is a great squad based battle royale game for groups who may already be playing other battle royale games, but if your playing solo you'll get stuck with random players. Overall, Apex Legends is worth trying at the free to play price point.

Apex Legends is a great example of hot to do a team-based battle royale. It excels when played in teams and communicating. A game that every battle arena game should follow. And it's free. Can it be even better?

And like that, Apex Legends is here to stay. Respawn has something really good in their hands and it remains to be seen how they will handle it.

All in all I like the new season quite well. At the start, I guess we had some problems to keep the servers stable. I had frequent connection problems and opponents that were lying so hard that I couldn't hit them and was dead on the ground the next moment. In fact you can feel an improvement from night to night. There seems to be a lot going on behind the scenes. I finally think Horizon is great again, because I personally didn't like the last newcomers that much. But everyone has to decide that for himself. Since I take a look in every season and play more or less actively, I can say that the seventh season turned out to be so interesting that I will stay on the ball. See you on Olympus!

EA was so preoccupied with whether it could port Apex Legends to Nintendo Switch, it didn’t stop to think if it should. And no, it really shouldn’t have. To anyone with literally any other outlet to play this game on, please do so, because all you will find here are the mutated remains of a game wandering where it shouldn’t.

Apex Legends is a first-person shooter battle royale that’s set within the same universe as Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall franchise. The main objective of Apex Legends is to lead your team to victory in the Apex Games and is achieved by being the last team to survive. With plenty of heroes to choose from and a vast array of seasonal lore to discover, Apex Legends has added a new lease of life to the battle royale genre.

I’ll be blunt: the Switch version of Apex Legends isn’t good. It’s mediocre at best, and with no system for cross-progression, it’s an absolutely useless port for an Apex Legends PC player like myself. It runs like hot garbage with blurry textures, noticeable pop-ins, stuttering, lag, and frame rate dips. Underneath all that is a barely serviceable version of the game, which is — at its core — an outstanding battle royale experience with cool characters and great combat. It’s just a shame Switch players will have to suffer through its many shortcomings to get to that.

Apex Legends on Switch is one of the least successfull port of Panic Button Games. The studio had to do a lot of sacrifices to bring this free battle royal to the platform. The many technical issues and the fact that you can't transfer your save from another console, makes it tough to justify jumping on this version.

I stated that I think Apex Legends is the best battle royal game on the market. I do still stand by this in terms of its gameplay. Apex Legends feels great to play, the characters are diverse, the lore and story is amazing. The maps Olympus and Worlds Edge are great and provide players with amazing encounters. However Apex suffers from technical issues and a lack of cross progression. Apex knows what it wants to be, it just needs to overcome its technical hurdles to be even better.
