Tetris 99 Reviews
This is brilliant game design that deserves the acclaim that has been lavished on it up to this point.
If you're after a royale-y good time you should look much farther than Tetris 99.
This is what Nintendo need to keep on doing to ensure subscription to Nintendo Switch Online stays worthwhile, however, this is just Tetris with a very addictive online element, and can quickly wane once the initial honeymoon period is over. Those who really enjoy basic Tetris will be right at home with this iteration. It is fast, frantic and somewhat unpredictable gameplay is what makes it so addictive in the first place - for others, the repetition might kick in after some time.
Big Block DLC adds two new modes to Tetris 99, which allows us to play either battle royale or marathon offline. But we still miss some more options and game modes.

Barebones and no-frills it may be, but Tetris 99 is the best playing Tetris game in years and ultimately well worth downloading if you're a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber.
In the end, despite its simplistic appearance and only one mode, Tetris 99 achieves the unthinkable, being fun without a lot of meaningless features.

A brutally singular and unexpectedly brilliant subversion of what you know about Tetris and battle royale, if you’re a Switch Online subscriber, you absolutely need to download it.

This game is an interesting take on the same old Tetris action. It's a great bonus if you already have Nintendo's service, and it's worth at least the price of a month of the service to try out. I would highly recommend it.
Tetris 99 takes the fun of Vs. Tetris to the extreme with amazing results. A must-have game!
Tetris 99 is a convincing mix of the classic Tetris formula and battle royale mechanics.

There is a train of thought that Tetris is, was and forever will be the finest piece of game design the world has ever seen.
The feature set is sadly lacking, but data miners that dug deep into the game's code found evidence of new modes - team play and a traditional marathon mode - waiting to be added in the future. We'll likely revisit Tetris 99 sometime later when these features get added, but for now I'd still recommend downloading it and giving it a try. “Free” is a pretty tough price to beat, and given how many hours I've already sunk into the world's weirdest battle royale, I can still say there's a lot of fun to be had in what little Tetris 99 has to offer.
I dig what Tetris 99 is trying to do, but it’s not my first choice. Maybe on the next drop.
Tetris is a pretty singular experience by itself and turning it into a massive multiplayer experience is such an intense joy that it’s hard to understand why no one has done something quite like this before.
Tetris 99 is highly addictive, simple, and fun. It brings that modern Tetris competition to the online stage in a big way but the lack of game modes and new features really hurt this from being more than just a good game.
Barebones though it may be, Tetris 99 delivers a consistently thrilling taste of competitive Tetris.
Tetris 99 is a game absolutely worth enjoying, and at the low price of absolutely nothing, there is little reason not to give it a download.
A riveting take on an all-time classic, Tetris 99 is wondrous pandemonium in a (battle royale) bottle.
