In a way, Assassin’s Creed III: Remastered is only for individuals who have never played Assassin’s Creed III. If you already own an original copy of the game, there is no need to sit through an experience featuring a rather jarring and plastic-faced Haytham Kenway.

Assassin's Creed III gave you the chance to enjoy some simple yet fun Assassin's Creed action, in a vast, Colonial-era Boston - and now you can carry all that on your backpack. It wasn't perfect, sure, but the same can be said for the rest of the earlier entries as well. The real disappointment here comes from its new, remastered iteration, which doesn't really upgrade things as much as it should - at least when it comes to the Switch, which is the worst of the available versions.

If you have played the Wii U version of the game, save yourself some money and go back and play that, the experience and look will still be the same as you would get on the Switch.

Lackluster enhancements do little to improve an already polarizing adventure

Overall, Assassin's Creed III Remastered is a bunch of fun and worth picking up thanks to the variety of content, but it is not without its issues.

If you are looking for a stealth game of any sort, or are considering getting into Assassin’s Creed, this game is a must buy. Despite the few issues like unnoticeable graphical improvements and a slow beginning, Assassin’s Creed III Remastered features solid gameplay and a story underneath its surface that more than quantifies the investment.

Bugs and technical issues that do crop up aside, Assassin's Creed III Remastered is a fairly appealing deal, one that is sure to draw in fans who haven't had a chance to experience previous games just yet. For those that have, this is an offering that may just be the one you need where you can pitch your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 copies aside and upgrade to a more modernized take on the last-gen classic.

Both Assassin's Creed III and Liberation are titles worth investing time into. They contain tons of content that's fun, and the time setting makes for some interesting scenarios, but the technical issues for this Switch port aren't worth the trade off for being able to play on the go. These issues aren't bad enough that the Remastered editions on the Switch are an unplayable mess, but it's still a mess regardless.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered is an adaptation that has its ups and downs. If the overall gameplay mechanics are good and enjoyable and the combat feels right to the player, the game also has several elements that need improvement, such as its hit detection system and framerate. While the overall experience is positive, the game needs polishing to be up to the series' name.

Assassin’s Creed III on Switch is easily the weakest 'Remastered' version of the game that’s been released thus far.

For better or worse, Assassin's Creed III Remastered introduces the polarising Connor Kenway to current gen consoles. Aside from some impressive graphical reworking, it is in many ways a simple port: bugs and issues with the original remain largely the same outside of some much-appreciated quality of life improvements and a handful of minor tweaks. Those who enjoyed the original, as well as Assassin's Creed fans who haven't yet played it, will likely appreciate this remaster for what it is, as long as nothing revolutionary is expected of it.

I still love Assassin’s Creed III, and I’ve found myself trying to collect everything, reaching 100% on the Remaster. It’s a world I love to play in and one that is still so fun to play. I love sinking hours into this version of Colonial America, where things strangely feel like home, only they look better now.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered is a mixed bag. It's repetitive combat and lackluster visuals, strung through with a few bright spots of naval combat and exploration, and unique displays of combat. Narratively, the game is as weak as they come. There's no mystery. Just an obligatory plot to finish the fight between the Assassins and Templars. Not to mention the mumbo jumbo with the First Civilization. The game is frustrating and not worth another look.

Assassin’s Creed III Remastered offers high quality and remains a compelling experience. I have no doubt – it’s the best remaster this series has gotten thus far. The developers managed to deliver more than just higher resolution, but then some aspects still seem somewhat undercooked.

Efforts have been made modernise Assassin's Creed III, however they're little more than superficial. Still, this is the best option for those looking to experience Connor's journey.

It is still cool and there are singleplayer DLCs and Liberation Remastered as well. However without big improvements. Still good choice, If you do not own original game.

With Assassin's Creed III Remastered, Ubisoft improved the graphics of the games but did very little to improve everything else.

Assassin's Creed III must have been a fantastic game in 2012, and it's still a wonderful experience today. Connor's story is interesting and well told and Connor himself is a hero I can fully buy into as realistic and believable. It comes together in a package with villains who are relatable and not always evil for the sake of evil and the game devotes a ton of time to the character development necessary to have a quality and compelling storyline.

Rediscover Assassin's Creed III on this remastered versioni s a bit weird. The game still retains a great vision on representing American Revolution, but it's also clear that their ambitions for Connor's adventure were too big. Despite its renovated graphic the game still suffers technical issues both old and new. Only the inclusion of the Assassin's Creed Liberation chapter could still make this game worth a try.
