Legacy of the First Blade was a fine questline, but often relied too heavily on nostalgia while making liberal use of the existing world map. Fate of Atlantis by comparison actually feels like a premium creation while forging its own identity: it requires no caveat, it builds on Odyssey. This isn't something I'm cautiously optimistic for, I'm ready to dive into the rest with both feet.

By playing for the second time the mythology card, Ubosft delivers a strong, deep, and mostly beautiful extension for last year's greek odyssey. Switching between Layla and Kassandra/Alexios might be tedious in the begenning, but the gorgeous environment awaiting is worth the effort, thanks to an interesting plot, free exploration and a very correct length.

As the first part of the second major story DLC for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Fields of Elysium is both impressive and disappointing. It is impressive in how it adds to the already vast world of Assassin's Creed Odyssey and disappointing in how the gameplay loop, while tweaked, doesn't really change from what was found in the main game. There's a lot of potential here, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Ubisoft delivers in episode 2.

DLC for the Assassin's Creed franchise has always been short mediocre adventures, with the occasional striking moment. Assassin's Creed Odyssey The Fate of Atlantis Episode 1 Fields of Elysium, that's a mouthful, is a huge step forward for DLC in this franchise. Providing an extensive adventure with branching narrative paths and a collection of great characters. The missions don't diverge from the traditional Assassin's Creed formula but the story is more than worth the asking price for this introduction. Fields of Elysium is a giant step forward for Assassin's Creed DLC and one of the best expansions in the franchise.
