Catherine Full Body throws you into the most puzzling affair you could ever imagine. This action-adventure puzzle games about the ups and downs of relationships captivate from start to finish thanks to its creative story and its difficult yet fun puzzles. The only downside is that the camera and the controls are a bit slippery in this Switch version.

Catherine: Full Body is to an extent both an expanded and a remake to the 2011 game Catherine. Developed by Atlus, Catherine is a tale of one man and his incredibly complicated love life. It’s a bizarre game filled with Demons, Sheep and a love triangle. While Catherine is a fine game and doesn’t necessarily need a reboot or remake, Catherine: Full Body takes everything from the main game and improves on it in every way.

In the same way you visit your hometown after being away for a decade and notice all the changes in familiar places, Catherine: Full Body’s alterations may come as a surprise to those who held the original in high regard. After the initial shock wears away, however, it’s clear to see the wisdom behind the choices made, and Atlus, yet again, achieves greatness.

Apart from an excellent action puzzle game, Catherine explores and questions masculinity in a few very interesting ways --that's why it's so disappointing that it never commits to its own findings.

Catherine: Full Body is a complete package. It has something for everyone: a solid and replayable campaign mode; an arcade mode that features more puzzles; competitive and co-op modes, and most important of all, a surprisingly good puzzle game. Although some bits in the story are problematic, Catherine’s visuals, as well as the story’s mature themes dealing with commitment, relationships, and infidelity, are generally entertaining.

Regardless of whether players have experienced Catherine before, Catherine: Full Body fulfills its goal of giving players a reason to revisit this one-of-a-kind tale. The willingness to distance itself from traditional black-and-white romantic tropes allows the game to tell a captivating narrative, breaking the fourth wall and allowing players to act as if they found themselves in Vincent’s predicament. The addition of Rin has allowed for exploration of a different side of love, asking more thought-provoking questions that seek to uncover what true happiness means to the player. In the end, Catherine: Full Body is essentially, more Catherine, and fans of the original could not ask for more.

Catherine: Full Body is an indelicate yet thoughtful game, a messy and at-times eyebrow-raising precis on gender and relationships, but a unique and worthwhile experience all the same.

Catherine: Full Body brings additional content inconsequentional to the story and great improvements to the gameplay. Regardless of the version you choose, Catherine continues to be a great experience to players interested in great stories or unconventional puzzles.

Catherine: Full Body's narrative contributions may ultimately serve to hinder what was an otherwise thoughtfully written story about self-discovery, but the overall improvement when it comes to gameplay is almost staggering.

Catherine: Full Body is yet another respectable remastered title from the guys at Atlus. Everything that made the original great is still here and there are honest attempts to address or fix story or character issues with the addition of new scenes and scenarios. If you enjoyed the original, there is just enough to have you come back, and if you missed out on this underrated gem before, now's the best time to jump in.

The price tag is a little daunting, though. I can’t help but feel like $40 would be a better price, since paying a full $60 for a game you’ve already played before is a bit of a hard sell. I’d recommend waiting for a sale, though if you’re a super-fan of Catherine and want it now, don’t let me stop you.

Catherine Full Body offers a deeper look into poor Vincent Brooks' nightlife, by adding a new and surprising temptress to the original story. With the arrival of japanese voices and a French localization, this new version also allow the player to get rid of the almost impossible puzzles, to simply enoy the story or the social interaction of the so cozy Stray Sheep bar.

Full Body re-elaborates the original Catherine, proposing a version that, beyond the huge news on the offer side, inserts a fourth character in the love triangle able to unhinge its balance.

Despite all the advantages, puzzles with cubes, even at a minimum difficulty settings may not appeal to everyone, and the story still lacks scope and important details in places. Anyway Catherine: Full Body for Nintendo Switch is a great port of an unusual game, which is especially nice to spend time in portable mode. Charismatic characters, hot situations, interesting arguments about adult life, a powerful atmosphere and all sorts of allegories should appeal to fans of story adventures.
