A slight downgrade on the original but still a fun crossover that works as a crash course in the joys of both Persona and Etrian Odyssey.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth offers more than enough fun, fan service-filled story and engaging exploration to make it a fitting encore for the 3DS.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth hinges on a few hefty qualifiers. You have to dig JRPGs for one, and be willing to accept random battles in 2019. You also have to not be sick of Persona 5's characters, which for some, is a tall order. For everyone else, there's plenty of fun to be had. It also gets major points as one of the potentially final big 3DS releases from a major publisher that is best served on the 3DS platform. As stylus-based touchscreens are phased out, Persona Q2 is one last rallying battle cry.

Even if you’re not huge on dungeon exploration Persona Q2 is a great game. It contains plenty of fanservice and references for fans of the main Persona titles and has a complex and rewarding combat and exploration loop that makes it worth playing even if it’s your first Persona game ever.

Persona Q2 is, very likely, one of the last big Nintendo 3DS games, a great J-RPG that unites the Persona games gameplay, social links included, with Etrian Odyssey`s dungeons. So if you love those games, you'll love it... even with its flaws: you have to grind a lot, dungeons are a little uninspired...

This isn't a blockbuster title and will likely slip under the radar for a lot of people, but Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a unique take on an entertaining if niche genre of games. It looks great, sounds great, and even with teething issues to the battle system, it's worth the price of admission.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a solid sequel which doesn't change its formula and still works out at the very best.

If this is the swan song for the Nintendo 3DS, then it is for sure a quality one. Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a quality, portable title for all gamers, whether it is the last the 3DS has to offer or not.

Persona Q2 New Cinema Labyrinth improves the formula seen in the first episode, despite a few concessions. The game offers attracting aesthethics, a very good gameplay and intuitive mapping. We regret a quite high difficultyand english subtitles only, but the mix between Personna and Etrian Odyssey still works well. The lovers of the two franchises can buy the game without hesitation. It's a very good work for what is for sure the last game made by Atlus for the Nintendo 3DS. The handheld console deserves this great game.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth may be the last major project for the Nintendo 3DS. But most importantly, it does not disappoint, offering dozens of hours of tactical battles, exploring of complex locations and an interesting plot in the scenery of the cinema. Without losing depth, the developers managed to make the new Persona available to a wide range of players who are ready to spend a few weeks of their lives in the world of neon lights, stylish hairstyles, music and interesting battles.

Persona meets Etrian Odyssey once again in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. Boasting a cast that spans Persona 3, Persona 4 and Persona 5, Q2 does a great job in creating a crossover that doesn’t feel like a bad reunion tour. Admittedly, the large dungeons combined with RNG encounters can feel like a slog at times. Its entertaining storytelling and fun turn-based combat, however, make it a great pickup for Persona fans. Even if I saw this one coming, I’m still quite glad that it’s here.

It’s rather hard to believe that Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth could very well be the last game to grace the 3DS, but it's a fantastic note to end on if that does turn out to be the case.

It's quite possible Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth will be the final major release on the Nintendo 3DS and it's a solid send off. Fans of the franchise should be use to the exposition heavy dialogue sequences and the story takes a bit to get good, but once it gets there it's fun. Sure, making your own map isn't the best mechanic and dungeon crawlers are not the most fascinating experiences around, though Persona has more than enough charm to overcome these shortcomings. So, unless you want another bland and generic RPG, it's hard to say no to Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth.

Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth is a profuse amalgamation of Persona's psychology and Etrian Odyssey's methodology. Just like—maybe a little too like—Shadow of the Labyrinth, it covers a lot ground without exploring a new direction. Emblematic of its eight-year-old hardware, New Cinema Labyrinth is battle-tested, secure, and incapable of surprise.

Highly recommended game for those who have played a few Persona titles and cautiously recommended as a well-made dungeon crawler for players with little to no Persona experience.
