Kill La Kill -IF- may just be the perfect anime video game. It almost flawlessly manages to embrace the style and energy of the original anime, and translate that into an enthralling arena fighter that is just as much fun solo as it is competitively. The art is incredible, the music is astounding, and the story mode goes above and beyond to deliver a fresh narrative that fans of the anime will eat up. Whether you're a Kill La Kill megafan or just a fighting game enthusiast, this is a must play.

Kill la Kill is an anime licensed tie-in fighter done well, and given how frequently these turn out to be terrible that in itself is a relief. It's fast, it's furious, it's explicit and fanservicey, and it is outright hilarious in its satire. The developers have nailed every element of Kill la Kill that needed to be done right, and I can't imagine fans wanting anything more from this particular game.

Kill La Kill -IF- gets the important things for the fans of the anime right with an amazing performance. With the original cutscenes, characters, animations and the soundtrack combined with the expertise of the Dragonball FighterZ developers waits probably one of the best videogame adaptions of an anime so far, if you can live with some lack of content and technical setbacks during the story mode.

A remarkably faithful adaptation of a fan-favorite anime, with a surprisingly tight and enjoyable battle system. The only letdown is the weak amount of content, but it can’t be denied that the limited budget went to the right place and favored quality over quantity.

With TRIGGER's involvement for the design and Kazuki Nakashima's involvement for the story, they managed to help deliver the style, music and hype that fans of the anime – such as myself – loved while creating an all-new "what if" story that may have fans returning to the anime.

Arc System Works delivers a great combat system and a fun story mode, but 8 fighters and 6 levels are too few, even if you are a big fan of the anime.

Much like the anime that came before it, Kill la Kill: the Game is weird, wild, and loud, but also a bit shallow. But unlike the anime, the Game doesn’t have the same feeling of scale to it, the same feeling of unrestrained creators working with a healthy budget and top-tier industry names.

“Kill La Kill IF delivers a unique experience when it comes to arena fighters. The flashy combat and stylish visuals really makes the game appealing”

KILL la KILL - IF is based on the 2014 anime KILL la KILL by Studio Trigger, which received plenty of critical praise. For those unfamiliar with the series, it blends a combination of magical girl glamour and transformation (Sailor Moon) with the over the top battle and constant stakes upping of a Shounen Anime (Naruto or Dragon Ball). But unlike many anime that are turned into fighting games, KILL la KILL is comprised of a mere 24 episodes, which are expanded upon in KILL la KILL - IF.

KILL la KILL - IF is the best arena fighter of this generation, giving a master class in how to weave a great Story Mode and a sharp and polished combat, full of variety, letting the player mold its own show.

As someone who has watched some anime over time, but has hardly kept up over the years, Kill la Kill is something new to me so walking into the world of this game is definitely a bit mind-boggling...

Unless you're a fan of the anime, Kill La Kill: IF is not the game for you. While the story mode is beautifully presented, it's not as lengthy or engaging as the hours-long experiences offered by other arena fighters. While the potential of an Arc System Works arena fighter sounds promising, this 3D fighting game ends up being a bigger disappointment than many of its contemporaries. The visuals are pristine, the animation is gorgeous, but everything else feels barren. Kill La Kill: IF feels like a budget title – too bad it costs $50.

Kill la Kill: IF has done a lot of work to push the arena fighter genre forward, even if its story mode won't build up new fans.

Kill La Kill IF wants to show off all that was great about the 2013 anime, but between a muddled story mode, small character roster, and questionable mechanics, it doesn't quite stick the landing.

Kill la Kill The Game is all about the fan service. Fans of the anime and manga are likely going to love this game. While those who'd enjoy brawlers will also enjoy it. However, for those serious about fighting games, there may not be enough here to keep them entertained for more than a few hours.

This colorful burst of anime goodness may not be flawless, but it's exemplary for the genre, and another of Arc System Works' great efforts.

Kill la Kill: IF is a fighting game based on the animation series of the same name and it does a very good job at following its source material, as the game often feels like a playable version of the animation series, down to its plot and charismatic characters. Its simple gameplay mechanics will be quickly assimilated by most players but the experience feels a bit shallow, not to mention short, as the game's main play modes do not go beyond a few hours. That doesn't stand in the way of Kill la Kill: IF being a very recommended option for fans of the series.
