Luigi's Mansion 3 is the high point of the series, simply because it polishes the Luigi's Mansion formula to a shine.

An enjoyable adventure full of great ideas, unique locations and amazing atmosphere. It's really difficult to stop playing until you find all of the secrets and suck up all the junk into your multifunctional Poltergust.

There's plenty of action to keep the players around the screens and the omnipresent humour and marvelous looking visuals do wonders for the game's capital. It's true that its plot could use some reworking and its controls would improve with a bit of tweaking but Luigi's Mansion 3 is such an entertaining experience that by now, it only makes a fourth game in the series more desired.

The ScareScraper is a lovely time as well, though with content being strapped back for a singular, clean game mode. Players who want to continuously enjoy the game might be better off trying to 100% the Story Mode. The collectibles are nicer to deal with now, which makes exceeding those initial ten hours not even a problem. Oh, and that Slam attack is pretty incredible as well.

The exotic holidays of Luigi's Mansion 3 look like a phantasmagorical comedy, each floor from this hotel presenting a play of its own which revisits the classic horror movies themes, thanks to Next Level Games' fantastic imagination through mischievous stagecraft, wonderful riddles and stunning ectoplasmic battles. Beyond the already reinforced ghost hunter gear, such elements are combined marvellously, if not even better in duo, since the slimy characteristics of Gooigi both fluidify and enrich the whole experience. A team spirit encouraged by the terrific multi player modes, in particular the more stupendously trapped ScareScraper, bound to haunt the long hallowed eves slamming with friends endlessly.

The Luigi's Mansion franchise has come a long way since the original was criticized over its lack of content. With an absorbing single-player campaign and a Scarescraper that still packs a punch, Luigi's Mansion 3 is the most content-rich entry in the series, and one of the best times I've had with my Switch in 2019.

Overall, I'm a little disappointed with Luigi's Mansion 3 - though that's largely down to my own expectations. It's an undoubtedly good game that's competently made. It oozes charm and is filled with clever puzzles and fun boss fights. It's just that all the bits between those start to become tedious before the game's end.

After the first two iterations Luigi's Mansion 3 expands in almost every department. A bigger game world, more gameplay mechanics to play with and puzzles that will take you some time to solve make Luigis new adventure the perfect addition for the Switch's game library. And for the first time in the game series' history Nintendo also put some emphasis on the multiplayer aspect apart from the story mode.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is a game for everybody. Be you young or old, experienced or otherwise, this game goes beyond to appeal to every type of player. With a great range of puzzles and challenges alongside a series best in gameplay and combat, it is a game I wholeheartedly recommend to any Switch owner, especially in this most spooky of times.

Scoring this game for me is a struggle. The core design structure, the aesthetic presentation, and the basic game feel are all excellent. Yet I hated Luigi’s Mansion 3 so acutely that I could not complete the game. There was no single puzzle that outwit me in the end. Instead, that rising sense of terrible dread just became too much. I wasn’t even that far from finishing the game! I just couldn’t grapple with the knowledge that all my suffering was a prelude to something worse.

With a lot of gameplay enhancements from previous iterations, a gorgeously rendered game world, and a whole host more besides, Luigi's Mansion 3 is easily the apex of the franchise. The sheer amount to see and do, along with the amount of adorable details, make this game a wonderful experience and one I would recommend. Sucking at games has (rarely) felt this good.

It’s the sheer variety of experiences in Luigi’s Mansion 3 that keeps it entertaining throughout. While you might at first think you’re in for a repetitive time as you go through the first few floors and find nothing but standard hotel rooms, things get quite unexpected as you continue higher and higher.

If you are looking for a challenge then Luigi’s Mansion 3 might not be for you. The game is only mildly difficult but – for most – that won’t really matter. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an absolute delight from start to finish, bursting with charm and re-playable mechanics.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is the biggest and best entry in a befuddling franchise, and a game that really makes a case for everyone's favorite second fiddle to get more spin-off adventures. Developer Next Level Games has expanded on the Poltergust's abilities in meaningful ways, adding more variety to the action and puzzles alike. Gooigi might seem a little shoehorned, but it's a great excuse for cooperative multiplayer on a system built for it. A few minor annoyances aside, Luigi's Mansion 3 is a strange, charming, and generous sequel.

This is a huge step up for a franchise that has always been enjoyable but never felt special. Well, Luigi's Mansion 3 is special. It's a spooky adventure full of top-notch puzzles and so much charm that you'll be convinced by the end that maybe Luigi has been the best brother all along.

Luigi's Mansion 3 revolves around your bond with the triumphant vulnerability of the company's most maligned mascot. The result is a Pixar-caliber hero that you'll want to spend a full 18 hours exploring with.
