For better or worse Subdivision Infinity DX is a game that recreates the golden era of space-based arcade shooters beautifully. Mileage may vary, but if you have fond memories of Freespace and Rogue Squadron, this is a game for you.

Overall there isn’t a massive amount of depth here but given the price and the level this game is pitched at the developers have done a pretty good job.

Subdivision Infinity DX is best enjoyed by arcade-hungry players who want a pick-up-and-play experience with an air of early simplicity that gives way to an impressive upgrade and customization suite as you level up. With challenging boss battles and some technical gripes, the game can be an inconsistent affair, but it’s more often than not a fun introduction to the genre for less experienced players or a nostalgic return to form for the more seasoned pilots.

Repetitive gameplay loops aside, Subdivision Infinity DX is actually a fun little game. While the story might not be Witcher III level of depth, it is a fun little science fiction jaunt into a sector of space that has been a bit … destroyed. From drones to mercenaries, to what amounts to a nasty case of ship-based AI illnesses, the story is fun, rarely takes itself too seriously, and moves from scene to seen with solid pacing (which is why backtracking and replaying for resources is so jarring). The various ships feel nimble enough that flying through debris fields while chasing down drones can leave some memorable memories, and for a small game that is an incredible feat. As a straight-forward space-based arcade title, Subdivision Infinity DX is a darn good game, especially at its price point.

My early generosity has been worn away by Subdivision’s relentlessly bland mission design. I am torn between my dislike of each mission’s flavorless grind and the small respite brought on by each taking less than 10-minutes to complete. It’s the video game campaign equivalent to a dinner of plain rice cakes: all fluff, no substance, but at least the exercise is over as quick as it began.

Subdivision Infinity DX is a good 3D space shooter that stands out in a simple and fun control, and a very attractive visual section, but in return, we have a irrelevant story and that the game bases its progress on the formula of farming to improve and can continue progressing in the game, a formula that will have its defenders and detractors. It shows that it comes from the mobile market because of its structure, but it has also managed to bring good things from there, the control for example. It is worth giving it a try if arcade space shooters is one of your favourite genres.

Despite its accessible controls and decent space dogfighting action, the mobile roots of Subdivision Infinity DX don’t stand up to scrutiny as a console experience. The bare-bones story and repetitive gameplay loops simply don’t hold up when removed from the platform they were tailor-made for, which ultimately results in a game that is difficult to recommend.

I've been a fan of the space dogfighter/shooter genre since way back in the day when it was pretty well defined by the Wing Commander series...

3D space shooters don't get much simpler than Subdivision Infinity DX but its gameplay is certainly tight and challenging enough.

undefined.Subdivision Infinity DX is a functional 3D Space Shooter that handles great but does absolutely nothing to define itself. It serves as yet another example of a game that in the mobile space exhibits above average effort, yet falls firmly into the realm of mediocrity when ported to a full console. There is certainly some fun to be had here, but it is all fun that has been done better by other 3D space shooters on Switch.

Despite is shortcomings, I strongly recommend it for its strengths, as well as the fact that there are no other space ship shooters available at the moment, outside of Elite Dangerous.

Subdivision Infinity DX may be worth a try for fans of space combat games, but stumbles out the gate with zero controller customization options and a padded out progression system.

Subdivision Infinity DX is a decent space dogfighter that makes the transition from mobile to console without feeling like a cheap port.

If you can throw the story and its unexciting characters aside, there's a fantastic, entry-level space shooter here to be played.

A shallow but stylish and challenging single-player space blaster, which despite the forgettable storyline, offers a good few hours of alien ass-kicking at a budget price.

This title is not a AAA space sim, but it is enough to occupy you in short sprints of intense Space dogfighting action. The maneuverability and ability to hop into the next big battle or next mission in bite size easy to pick up and put down ability make this a great addition for those who do like space shooters but don't want to commit a massive amount of focus or attention to play. Just pick it up and save the galaxy!

Subdivision Infinity DX is a decent space shooter filled with fast and frantic action. The grindy nature and and exploration missions do let it down a bit, but the gameplay is stylish and fun, and there's plenty of challenge for those that want it.
