Heave Ho is an utter delight to play, with its co-operative and outright zany take on being a trapeze artist making (kind of?) for a uniquely fun escapade. It’s a bit tough to recommend as a single player experience as it loses a lot of its charm when playing solo, so it’s definitely a case of ‘the more, the merrier’. If you can get some friends to join you though, you’re in for heck of a good time (and maybe the occasional argument if one of you gets slippery fingers…)
While having played so many indie games on the Switch is interesting and exposes you to all sorts of takes on multiple genres one admitted downside is that it can also make you a bit jaded...

It's a good chunk of content for an absolute steal of a price. The wackiness of grabbing your friends, flinging yourself around, making faces and noises, and just causing shenanigans all around doesn't really get old. Heave Ho is a much harder sell to anyone expecting to play it solo, but it's an absolute must-have for any local multiplayer get-together with friends.

Before we knew it, we had been playing for four hours, laughing so hard I fell off my couch on several instances. It is the perfect game to pull out during a friendly get together or party, with a control scheme that anybody can wrap their head around and shenanigans that will cause just about any group to laugh until they cry. If you enjoy local multiplayer games, you owe it to yourself to give Heave Ho a try.

The local co-op revolution received quite the shot in the arm when Nintendo released the Switch two and a half years ago. The fact that every system came with two controllers made it the perfect place for local co-op games. Now, with the release of Heave Ho, we add another one to the long list of couch co-op games of the last few years. But does this one stand out from the pack, or does it get lost in the shuffle? It will give you some solid, challenging play time on your own, and then when your buddy comes over you can have a ridiculous time flinging each other across the map. I would say El Cartel Studio has nailed this simplicity with this one, I would recommend checking it out.
Needless to say, if you like local co-op games and own either a Nintendo Switch or a PC, Heave Ho should be considered absolutely essential. It really is one of the best local co-op games available.
In the end there was not much satisfaction from beating Heave Ho by myself. There’s no denying that the game is much better when playing with friends. I still cannot shake the feeling that more modes could have been provided to give Heave Ho more playtime and more replay value. The use of physics, motion and momentum were done rather well, especially when considering such infamously frustrating Internet games like QWOP and Getting Over It. Personally, I will stick to Super Mario Party for a party game or even Super Smash Bros Ultimate, but I can see others that actually have more friends within their area enjoying this title.
Despite the lackluster single player and small other foibles I have with some of Heave Ho's design choices, you're still getting a ton of great bang for your buck here, especially at the $10 asking price.
Heave Ho is a quirky little platformer to play on your own that really shines when you take on multiplayer mode.
