Besides some difficulty issues with the two-player mode and the melee characters, it’s a pretty great game. Plus the spirit you rescue at the end of the first area looks like a giant floating vagina, so what more could you want?

Children of Morta is a really beautiful game. it also helps that gameplay is solid with enough variety and story/characters are maybe better than you expect. we wish enemies were smarter though.

Children of Morta is an exceptionally well made ARPG, where the same amount of attention has been given to all its aspects, from the way it plays, to the way it's story is told, to the way it looks. Those in search for something with hundreds of hours of additional content should better look elsewhere, but the pleasure of combat (solo or co-op), and the addictive nature of rogue-likes, combined with the strong narrative, and the fantastic ultra-detailed pixel art style, gives a pretty good reason to put this on your wishlist - NOW!

Children of Morta is both a masterpiece in art and world design and a great video game. offering an emotional story, Children of Morta show how a family fights darkness together and it's gameplay reminds me of games like Diablo 2 where I couldn't stop fighting and clicking. if you enjoy action RPG games or just simply video games, Children of Morta is a must play.

Children of Morta is charming, engaging and fun. It's absolutely worth playing if you're a fan of the genre, and the Bergsons are one of the best family units in gaming. The world and characters draw you in, and the simple but engaging roguelike gameplay keeps you there. It doesn't break any molds, but it doesn't try to. Instead, the title focuses on offering what it has with a mirror polish. It has some problems and can feel repetitive at times, but any sense of weariness is lost the next time a beautiful cut scene begins.

Children of Morta is a well-made, standard and delightful Rogue-lite Action Game. The main theme of the game is about family and unlike other rogue-lite games that usually don't pay much attention to the story, this game offers a very good story about a lovely and mystic family. It is absolutely a game that rouge-lite (and rouge-like) fans will enjoy. However, even if you didn't play any game in this genre, I think Children of Morta worth a shot and I can easily recommend it.

Children of Morta is one of the best rogulite games I played in a while, so I can't recommend it enough to those who love the genre. It's easy to pick up and the story, even though it's a bit on the generic side, it will keep you hooked till the end (yes, there's actually an end to the story).

Children of Morta is a quality game with a fantastic narrative that despite of some of its issues, offers a really good experience. But the developers' focus on balancing the experience in co-op multiplayer mode has caused some shortcomings in the single player mode

Children of Morta greatly mixes action RPG and roguelite styles, creating a fresh experience every time you play. The narrative development and the stories that make up the Bergson family are capable of holding the player more than the gameplay itself. While minor technical issues are frequent with the console version, nothing detracts from the great experience the title provides.

Children of Morta is a turning point for Dead Mage Studios, and from now on expectations are gonna be much higher from them. Definitely one of the best indie games of the year.

Better still, it's impossible not to be captivated by the Bergson family's struggle for survival and togetherness against a formidable evil. A two-player co-op option is the cherry on top of this exquisitely-crafted experience. However you choose to go through it, Children of Morta is an absolute must-play.

Those used to the genre will be thrilled by the challenge presented here, yet newcomers will easily become frustrated at the difficulty spikes, and the feeling that no real progression is being made. Thankfully, the great narration and story-driven sections between the gameplay will hold the interest of even the most uninitiated dungeon crawlers.

Children of Morta is a wonderful rogue-like ARPG, with a lot of deep layers in terms of gameplay mechanics, that does a terrific job of acting as an underlay to the simple, but dark, atmospheric story. Everything intertwines together splendidly, and seeing how each character can help to buff up their family members via their shared abilities, both in each characters unique skill trees, or the household's base stat upgrades, there are plenty of moving pieces here that all contribute towards the family's mission to end the Corruption. No run is ever wasted, with each failed attempt still rewarding the family with some positive enhancements for the next run, until that eventual stage boss is defeated. For those who are looking for a new rogue-like to jump into, this should definitely not be missed.

The charm and sheer enjoyability were enough to compensate for the shortcomings, to an extent, and at least hold my interest until the end. Considering that it took me upwards of 20 hours to complete and the procedural generation grants it some replayability, I’d say it’s pretty reasonably priced at $21.99. It also has the option of local co-op, which I didn’t personally try out but I can easily see how that would be enjoyable. One of my first thoughts, before I realized it was an option, was actually how great multiplayer would be. So, although it may not deliver on story and the lack of difficulty leaves something to be desired, I’d still recommend Children of Morta to anyone looking for an endearing indie that they can enjoy with a friend.

Children of Morta is an indie game that provides AAA levels of entertainment and polish. With so many genres and influences all mixed up into one big pot, the concept easily could've turned out a disaster in the wrong developer's hands. Instead, Dead Mage studios produced what is arguably a must-play title and an absolute gem of a game. Highly recommended for veteran and novice gamers alike.

Like Seraph before it, part of the enjoyment with Children of Morta lies not just in cleverly rampaging through wave after wave of foe, but also in the relief of surviving the ordeal through a measured balance of skill and strategy.
