Devil's Hunt is absolutely awful. A barely functional, extremely boring, completely nonsensical character action game.

If you're looking for something horribly cheesy with simple controls, this could be something you might enjoy, and to be honest, if the graphics were better, that would be exactly how I would spin this. As a gouda inspired feast of intentional badness. But when you combine the script, the controls, and the graphics, it ends up just feeling like a very ambitious game that never really got there.

Devil's Hunt has a poor plot and characters, but it's pretty and playable.

A game about the clashing forces of heaven and hell deserves to be far more interesting, if not in gameplay, then at least in story. Devil’s Hunt fails to deliver on both fronts.

Devil’s Hunt is a game that knows the look of a high-quality video game, but stumbles on most other fronts. It has the skeleton of the game in place, but struggles to flesh things out beyond that. Clocking in at about six hours, it’s a mostly functional package that takes a grandiose story as its base and delivers something less bombastic. Hopefully Desmond can get his act together should another installment come to fruition.

Devil's Hunt is a below average title that feels like a parody of Devil May Cry. Feel free to pass on it.

Devil’s Hunt is visually stunning in many ways and seeks to rise above its indie roots, but sadly the game is lacking in polish in many areas. Though at times the gameplay can be genuinely fun and engaging, Devil’s Hunt suffers from frustrating flaws that put it in the shade of other hack-and-slash titles. The clunky and occasionally tasteless writing does the game no favours either.

Devil's Hunt is one of those games that failed to reach its potential, thus can't be considered a good AA game. Very shallow story, bad character design and repetitive gameplay are the main reasons that you should probably avoid this game.

While Devil’s Hunt tries to aim high, with a great attention for details in the story department, the technical aspect is terrible and outdated, and the gameplay feels boring and repetitive.

The developers have tried to make a good game. You will have fun in some sarcastic and ironic scenes. Once you get a new ability and unlock a new combo, it will be fun, but that doesn't take long and repetitive and stereotypes start very quickly. Poor optimalization, an boring story, lengthy and boring passages. All this show that this game just landed flat.

In the modern video game industry, so many games have released that have done the formula attempted to be tackled by Devil’s Hunt in a much better way. Look at Devil May Cry. Look at Bayonetta. Look at Prototype. Hell, look at Dante’s Inferno. So many games have released and been really fun to play through while keeping gamers engaged and having strong gameplay mechanics and loops. None of that is found here with Devil’s Hunt. While there are small, very small, amounts of fun to be had, it quickly fades away within the first hour, leaving the remaining four hours to be a bore.

If they can sort the performance issues out, this might be a decent game to play on Switch, but only if you really enjoy button-mashing action/adventure. I just can’t see a reason to pick it up on PC or traditional home consoles when there are so many better alternatives.

By the end of Devil's Hunt, I was left disappointed in the game, but really interested in the studio. I wouldn't recommend Devil's Hunt to anyone - the gameplay is not fun, the story is decent, but the acting and delivery is messy, and the performance is an issue. The game looks alright, but you can get that from a YouTube video, no need to spend money on this. However, I would recommend that you keep an eye on Layopi Games. With a bigger budget and more time, they have the potential to churn out something special.

Devil’s Hunt is a significantly clumsier game than its premise and marketing suggest, feeling like a series of linear Final Fantasy XIII corridors interrupted only by combat that plays like a poor man’s version of Batman: Arkham Asylum‘s freeflow system. Those who can appreciate jankiness will likely find something to enjoy, but those expecting Devil’s Hunt to live up to its considerable promise are bound to be disappointed.

Devil's Hunt is a train wreck: from the shallow and dull story to the technical flaws and imprecise combat system, the game looks like a product with a concept from twenty years ago.

Devil's Hunt has interesting moments and good visuals, but it all sinks into a delusional plot and poorly implemented mechanics, where battles are broken and puzzles are reduced to the press of a button. You can certainly hope that something will change in the console version in 2020, but I strongly doubt it.

Devil's Hunt's weighty combat and at times beautiful visuals are plagued with inconsistency, and lack the level of polish of the titles it borrows from. The result is an unfulfilling teen drama whose flashes of brilliance aren't near enough to justify its price tag.

Ambitions exceed the real resources of the young development studio, creating a title that never finds its balance.
