Mistover follows too closely in the footsteps of a game that overshadows it in every possible way. Its combat is unspectacular and its dungeon-crawling suffers from a lack of atmosphere and a bunch of harsh gameplay systems that ensure you never really feel like you're relaxing into a rhythm, getting any sort of foothold or extracting any real or lasting joy from proceedings. If you're going to studiously pay homage to a game as expertly-crafted as Darkest Dungeon you'd best bring your A-game, and, unfortunately, in this instance, developer Krafton has failed to do that.

There are a lot of things to admire about Mistover, and it’s an impressive title in certain respects. I never fell in love with it though, and rarely felt like playing it for long stretches without a break.

Although far from being a perfect combination, with many of its ideas seeming incomplete, Mistover is an interesting and fun experience, with a very solid basic concept that will appeal to players eager for challenges.

MISTOVER is an RPG that's fun in the beginning but quickly becomes repetitive. While there's a lot to do in the game, it's also a lot to learn.

Mistover biggest mistake is being overly punishing in places it doesn’t need to be. If you can deal with difficulty spikes in random battles, you’ll find one of the best games inspired by the likes of Etrian Mystery Dungeon and Darkest Dungeon.

Anyone looking for a more consistent or relaxed experience would do best to stay away, but there's still a worthwhile thrill for anyone willing to put in the time to get a truly great run going in Mistover.

Mistover is a light-hearted take on the brutal gameplay of Darkest Dungeon.

Fans of challenging and highly strategic turn-based play have had a number of quality picks on the system to choose from, and though Mistover has a lot on its side with great art and an interesting setup its random elements may make it a bit too unpredictable at times...

MISTOVER has shown itself to be one of the all around hardest reviews I’ve had to do. With the combat mechanics being nothing short of exceptional I want to give it a high rating. But with so much weighing it down I can’t.

While not a perfect affair, Mistover offers up a generous level of reward for the amount of risk needed to succeed in the game. Developing characters and collecting equipment make exploring each map that much more enticing. While risk isn't as big of a factor as it could be, and the amount of time needed to succeed is rather daunting, Mistover offers up an appealing formula all the same.

I imagine that less patient gamers will dismiss Mistover but once you let it hook you, it's a tough RPG to put down.

You do not have to be the darkest dungeon, or write a great odyssey. Sometimes you just need to take lots of good ideas, and put them together in a way that works, to make something brilliant. If you want great strategy, Mistover should not be passed over.

So as long as you don’t game over because the clock went and struck twelve, MistOver will keep you busy for a lot of hours. Hell, even if you wipe out and decide to go at it all over again, MistOver is worth it. MistOver is honestly a dungeon crawler that fans should look into even if they have a fear with permadeath for characters. Even if they die off, you keep the gear, cursed, but you keep it and slap it onto the next replacement that you’ve hired as a just in case things went south. With plenty of quests, boss fights and environments to explore, the mist awaits you!

When all is said and done, MISTOVER should be considered a masterpiece of the genre- severely punishing, but a masterpiece nonetheless.
