I firmly believe that Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travellers was made for children. It was made to be an entry level JRPG. That’s not to say Adults won’t still find the adventure fun. At least, I liked it. I think others will too. The story is truly the highlight and reason alone to play this game. With influences from both Earthbound and Chrono Trigger, Nippon Ichi did a great job seamlessly incorporating elements from both.

I spent just shy of 25 hours in the sleepy town of Clocknee, and I loved it. The developers put a lot of love into this game. The story is touching, and makes up for the minor flaws in the game. The characters are endearing and the emotional soundtrack breaths depth into the world and its characters. It is a story of youth, friendship, regret, pain, love, and triumph. There may be some terrible prices to be paid, but all is not lost yet. Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is available on the Nintendo Switch eShop for $39.99. Just don’t expect it to have the difficulty, scope or depth of something like Final Fantasy. In my opinion, this game is a bit of a hidden gem in the Nintendo Switch library (and it’s also on PlayStation 4). Can you untangle the ravaged timeline of Clocknee to undo the terrible wrath of fate?

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is a fantastic game full of heart. Breezy with a bit of substance to it, the battle system is a ton of fun and the time travel-centric mystery plot is a lot of fun to see unfold. If you're looking for a fun RPG for younger players or just want something that's a bit like a Studio Ghibli film in game form, pick it up. There's a lot to love about Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers and you can't go wrong grabbing it on either the PS4 or Switch.

GREAT - Destiny Connect is a charming JRPG that gets a lot of things right. With a fun combat system, smooth graphical performance, and some quality of life options, most fans of the genre should find something to like here. The bland level design, strange plot points, and odd music aren’t enough to ruin what is otherwise a great choice on the Switch.

It’s a light snack in a genre full of hearty feasts. It won’t blow your mind or change your life, but Destiny Connect will help you relax for a while.

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers feels like an experiment that doesn't quite hit all the marks. There are good elements and certainly things that will not appeal to certain people but for the most part it works.

NIS America games are unmistakable and represent the face of the producer. However, Destiny Connect is not "connected" to its own gameplay, bringing many animation flaws, intense motion blur and sensible gameplay without many possibilities. The story and the characters are very catchy, but the game isn't.

Overall, Destiny Connect: is a cute little title that has a decent draw for those new to the RPG scene, but may not have the same draw for the older crowd. The soundtrack is solid and the storyline is rather interesting. Combat is pretty fluid and while there isn’t much of a difficulty, the enemies are pretty interesting and there is a lot of different tactics you can use with the different characters. Although Destiny Connect: Tick Tock Travelers makes for a good introductory RPG, a lot of those looking for another RPG in their larger repertoire may feel let down by the simplicity and “hand holding” that happens. While probably fun for the younger crowd, it may not pass muster for the older crowd.

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers biggest problem is that there are so many more memorable JRPGs available on Nintendo Switch. It's a sweet little entry-level game, and is refreshingly brief in length and scope. It also has a streamlined, nearly retro approach to its combat, and it has fun with its time travel theme. It might not be particularly profound, but it is sweet and cheerful and has a really good soul.

Overall, Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travellers is a fun little RPG for a good sunday afternoon or three that can be easily sat down with a cup of tea. Never too hard, it’s really a throwback to an easier time where things were made to look pretty and be relaxing instead of crazy hard and needing mad skills to complete. That all said, it is a cute adventure and is worth exploring.

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers from NIS America does a lot right right and is a good beginner's JRPG but has some major technical and design problems.

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is a bit too simple and easy for its own good but does tell a solid enough storyline and feels designed to be approachable for a younger audience.

It's an okay game, but without any defining features other than competency, it's hard to recommend over similar games in the genre.

With no New Game + mode, the game’s replay value consists of collecting missed items from scratch, which won’t likely inspire a second playthrough amongst adult JRPG fans. Despite all this, Destiny Connect – Tick-Tock Travelers – is a success. It’s an intentionally limited game aimed at a young audience who will no doubt enjoy it. For everyone else, however, it feels like a poor video game conversion of a cute Pixar movie and one that should cause pause before purchase.

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers starts off great, with a promising story and fun enemies. But the longer I played, the weaker it became. It's a simple game (move from point A to point B in a linear fashion) and a short one by RPG standards, so kids might be entertained by it for a while. But the story ultimately resigns itself to cliches, and the backtracking and repetition combine to make this just an average game, at best.

Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers is a child-friendly, happy-go-lucky, time-travelling adventure that's enjoyable... for about an hour or so. Simply put, there are far better JRPGs out there - many of them equally carefree and friendly towards young gamers and newbies, and even more so.

With a time-traveling story, turn-based combat system, and cast of characters that could have been lifted from such classics as Chrono Trigger — complete with robotic party member — it’s a shame that it is ultimately let down by an unengaging narrative, extremely tedious gameplay loop, and a combination of a lack of challenge and crushingly high encounter rate.
