One of the best written games you'll ever play, but also pretty Cluttered and Messy.
Nice to look at, only OK to play. If you can ignore all the broken promises, and the lack of any real RPG gameplay, there's a halfway-decent FPS game here. If, on the other hand, you buy this game expecting it to be the sweeping, branching-narrative RPG that was advertised, you're gonna be disappointed.
Equal parts stunning achievement and terrible mess, for every wonder in Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 there’s a handful of frustrations. Performance issues affect not just how the game looks, but how it plays and feels, constantly taking bites out of what would otherwise be an impressive and exhilarating experience.
I am seriously envious of my friends playing this game who aren’t having issues (mostly PC players), because I see glimpses of the greatness Cyberpunk 2077 has in store. Once CD Projekt Red works through these crashing and glitching issues, and maybe moves the console version of the game into at least a beta phase, it could be fantastic. I, for one, am looking forward to replaying the game with all new choices when Cyberpunk 2077 is fit for console launch.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that was never going to live up to the massive hype it generated but what was released is an unfinished game with too many issues that may be beyond saving.
Even ignoring performance issues and bugs, Cyberpunk 2077 is still a deeply flawed game, but there is a lot to like – from its rendition of Night City, to the breadth of its side content and the deep level of character customisation with perks and upgrades.
CD Projekt RED's management has absolutely rushed it out before it was properly ready, and at this stage it's very much a case of buyer beware. It’s clear that lots of effort has been put into creating Night City and the well-linked major gameplay systems, but even when putting the technical issues aside, it still feels much like many open-world games that have come before.
A lack of focus, vague combat, and some truly befuddling performance issues hamper the still competent, and often enjoyable, detective sim that the best parts of Cyberpunk 2077 want to be.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a frustrating mess. Its main narrative and characters are compelling but it's all within a game so buggy that, in terms of games with good stories and botched launches, it gives Fallout: New Vegas a run for its money. While I enjoyed my time in Night City because of its solid writing and characters, I cannot give Cyberpunk 2077 a recommendation.
Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely a warning, not an aspiration. If we do not change the culture of game development in this industry, if we do not hold developers and publishers accountable for how they treat both their employees and you, the consumer, then Cyberpunk 2077 will be the future of games and game development, and the world will be lesser for it.
I enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 despite its warts. Underneath all of the bugs, broken AI, and questionable Reeves voice acting is a gem of a game that would greatly benefit from additional polish. Considering the developer's track record, I fully expect CD Projekt Red to release voluminous updates to address the title's many issues, but until the inevitable "Game of the Year" edition, prepare yourself for a fun cyberpunk playground that's currently marred with a litany of issues.
Cyberpunk 2077 is far from ready on the consoles, but it's not close to being ready on the PC, either. Cyberpunk 2077 truly excels in the characters and stories it creates by forming a beautiful, dystopian city that dwarfs many digital cityscapes that came before it. Progression systems are solid if underwhelming; other areas, like civilians and the wanted system, are broken or neglected. The experience is undermined every step of the way, especially on the PS4. This was a disastrous release, and you're better off getting a refund or not purchasing the game until these issues are fixed - if not for your own sake, then perhaps out of principle after we were all misled by CDPR's attempt to hide last-gen issues until it was too late.
It is indeed very sad to see a game with such a huge potential go down like this, mainly due to bad decision making. Cyberpunk 2077 is a marvelous Action RPG, but is not playable on the current generation consoles as countless bugs and glitches kill the game from the beginning. CD Project Red is a very talented studio and all we can hope is that they learn and recover from their mistakes, and go back to making great games.

It is impossible to enjoy the qualities of Cyberpunk 2077 on a console today, even on PS5. A technical disaster on an unfinished product shows how the game production process urgently needs to improve. Despite the numerous negative barriers, there is still a good game here, but it will need many adjustments to present this.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a great game, but it could have been an incredible game that defined a generation. Instead, it falls victim to its own ambition and the industry's constant desire to push, push, push it out. In its current state, it's not for the faint of heart, and even hardcore Cyberpunk fans may struggle to stay interested amidst all the crashes and issues. If you have yet to pick it up, wait a few months and you could very well be treated to the experience we were all hoping for at launch.
Cyberpunk 2077 isn't the disaster that it was at launch, but even on more powerful hardware, it's just a slightly more polished version of a deeply disappointing game.

Cyberpunk 2077's Night City is one of the best sci-fi dystopias ever showcased in games. The stories it has to tell and the characters there are to meet are engrossing and terrifying. Despite some performance issues on PS5 backwards compatibility, it is still worth playing for the excellent character and narrative work. But, if you own a PS4, do not buy Cyberpunk 2077 as it is a technical mess that barely functions.
