If you've already played Cyberpunk 2077 after major 1.5 update in February 2022, there's little reason to revisit the base game. Simply play Phantom Liberty—you'll find some of CDPR's best content there. However, as a one-time experience for newcomers, Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 is often fantastic, and is absolutely worth your time. Just don't expect it to be a branching RPG set in a living world. Instead, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the cinematic adventure.

After nearly three years of updates and improvements, Cyberpunk 2077 is – at long last – a legitimately good game, one that builds on its flawed past with more than a few radical changes and overhauls.

I was very impressed with the 2.0 update. Cyberpunk 2077 came out earlier and we had to wait almost three years for it to reach its current form, and I love it. I really wish they had been there from the beginning because they would have left a lasting impression on more than just me. The game has become much more beautiful thanks to new technologies, and in places where you just sit and admire what is happening on the screen, I haven’t had such a feeling for a long time.

Playthrough Cyberpunk was made easier due to the similar controls of other popular shooters and RPGs. Players who are looking for hours of gameplay can find themselves easily lost in this game either through side quests or by trying out different fighting styles. Overall, we enjoyed our time with Cyberpunk 2077 and it is worth giving the game a second chance.

It’s unfortunate that the hype train got so carried away during the years long lead up to Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED definitely didn’t help with their marketing that leaned into the hyperbolic expectations. It made the backlash more powerful and more negative than this game probably deserved. This Next-Gen version isn’t hot trash or unplayable but it definitely has benefited from having another year and a half in the oven. One can only hope that the industry and its community members learn how to manage expectations and avoid this mistake in the future, but if human history has taught us anything, that’s not likely.

But it is impossible for me to play the game after this patch and not think about how so many other games, with so many more interesting ideas and takes on the genre, are not going to get the second swing that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to get over the next year. Years of dev time to produce a standard and familiar 1980s dystopia in a pretty good frame. Just another day in Night City.

Looking back at Cyberpunk 2077’s grueling multi-year development and catastrophic post-launch, a month and change after its release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

But don’t expect an open-world worth devoting countless hours to exploring. Because once you look away, once you break free of the frame CD Projekt Red forces you into, the world of “Cyberpunk 2077” can feel totally empty. City blocks whiz on by as you drive aimlessly through Night City. In those moments, with nothing to do, I wasn’t really sure why I was still playing.

That being said, there is a lot to like here as well. Cyberpunk 2077 is an incredibly vibrant world, both visually and in its various interactions. Whether I was petting an animal, taking the time to read through billboards or finding a ton of quests to spend my time on, Night City was a thoroughly engaging virtual world. That being said, it’s still an imperfect world in a handful of minor but certainly noticeable ways. Though I was excited for the original release of Cyberpunk 2077, I suspect my experience benefitted from waiting to play. I’m glad I finally got the opportunity to do so.

If you can look past Cyberpunk's technical issues and the noise that has trailed it since its bungled beginnings, you'll find a gem of an RPG that's rife with promise and well worth your time.

I enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077. The story told and moreover the world it built was truly interesting. I’d certainly recommend playing it, but wish it wasn’t held back by gameplay and technical issues, even if it's still fun despite these. I’m glad I waited for the 1.5 update, as it does sound that this is a rather better experience than the one on launch.

Cyberpunk 2077's ultimate console version reaffirms the splendid storytelling, exceptional city-building and varied gameplay of the original game, while also being more polished, enriched and finally featuring performance and visuals worthy of new consoles. There is no shortage of smears and residual issues, but it still stands as an excellent first-person RPG, set in a fascinating retro-sci-fi world full of things to do and compelling stories to live. Definitely a must-have.

Let’s be clear: Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t reinventing the wheel. The augmentation aspect of the game isn’t executed any better than Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and it feels less intuitive, while the hacking is of a similar level to Watchdogs 2 and Watchdogs: Legion. For some, this next-gen release providing light entertainment more consistently won’t be enough to change their opinion. But for me, exploring this dense megatropolis, driving irresponsibly from place to place (the floaty controls make any alternative just about impossible), and doing cool cyber stuff as part of a pretty-decent-but-not-groundbreaking story, is enough to keep me entertained and engaged long after I should have gone to bed.

‎CDPR with Cyberpunk 2077 is to create an almost unique sense of immersion where you can experience Night City first-hand. With the next-gen patch, many of the countless bugs that broke the game have disappeared. But not all. The experience continues to have major flaws. Plus it still doesn't have a decent police search system. All in all, this is undoubtedly the best version of the game, and everything good it did at its launch now makes it much better. Adding that it finally feels like the ARPG that should have been launched.‎

Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 is the game that PlayStation fans should have been playing in 2020. While it still falls short when measured against the immense expectations that surrounded its release, everything that Cyberpunk gets right is so much easier to enjoy when the game isn't crippled by technical issues. The main story's a thrill ride, the combat's a blast, and Night City is an incredible open world setting. And the best part is that CD Projekt Red finally has a stable foundation to build upon. It took 14 months to get here, but the future of Cyberpunk 2077 actually holds a lot of promise.

Cyberpunk 2077's long-awaited next-gen console update is here, and the extended wait looks to have been worth it. The Performance Mode corrects all of the poor frame-rate issues in one fell swoop, not to mention the several thousand bug fixes that 14-months and change can bring. There's even some new stuff to discover, from the ability to purchase/rent apartments to an overhaul of enemy AI. As a reboot of sorts it's by no means perfect, but it's now a great foundation on which to deliver more Night City stories.

Cyberpunk 2077 isn't the disaster that it was at launch, but even on more powerful hardware, it's just a slightly more polished version of a deeply disappointing game.
