Its enemies might be mindless but while it's very one note the gameplay in Zombie Army 4 offers some surprisingly engrossing co-operative action.

In its self-aware campiness and macabre action, there is a contagious confidence in Zombie Army 4 that will leave anyone who plays it a fan of this exciting co-op shooter.

You could very well copy-paste the conclusion to our Strange Brigade review when summing up the up-and-down nature of Zombie Army 4: Dead War and in one respect that does draw attention as well to this game's general relevancy.

The mood wafts above it all, overpowering any laughable suggestions of plot or character—neither of which fuels Zombie Army 4.

Zombie Army 4 is a solid co-op offering that offers plenty of blood-spilling fun. However, it's let down by dated mission design and repetition, while its single-player isn't half as fun as when you're teaming up with a group of mates. Fans of the series will definitely appreciate what's on offer, though.

Zombie Army 4 : Dead War is an enjoyable and generous spin-off, with a delicious Grindhouse flavour that makes killing zombies quite fun, especially in cooperation, even if it can sounds a bit redundant and feels dated visually and in terms of A.I..

Zombie Army 4: Dead War builds upon the original trilogy of games to offer a robust zombie-killing experience. While what’s here is enjoyable, and the combat is as satisfying as ever, it doesn’t quite step out on its own into something truly unique.

This co-op sniper game has a big conundrum at the center of it. Co-op is fun, but not for sniping. Sniping is fun, but not in co-op. If you’re a Sniper Elite fan who wants to continue that series’ playstyle in a zombie shooter, there are some caveats to deal with. Fortunately, there are many different ways to play Zombie Army 4: Dead War, so it’s quite easy to avoid this conundrum altogether.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a solid if kind of empty title simultaneously. The cooperative experience is great, and I've enjoyed killing my combined favorite type of faceless enemy (Nazis AND zombies!). Still, without that co-op experience with someone else, it didn't feel as enjoyable on my own. That being said, if you and a few friends are down to shoot up some zombies and get some ridiculous kill cam shots afterward, this might be your title.

A simple Zombie game to sit back and relax to while you split heads open like overripe watermelons, what's not to love?

Overall, Zombie Army 4 seems to be the culmination of the developer’s best attempts to distract you from that very shallow gameplay loop.

We really enjoyed our time with Zombie Army 4. I would have liked better music and some more varied objectives but apart from that it is hard to not get stuck into slaying hordes of the undead. Especially if you have a friend to watch your back, like I did.

A decent co-op game that offers nothing but killing tons of zombies. If that's enough for you and your friends, then go ahead and save Europe from the evil dead.

The fourth installment in the Zombie Army series finally got almost everything right by tweaking all the problems and issues from the first three games. It's still not flawless, but it is what Rebellion wanted it to be; and that's being fun to play.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War isn't without its faults, but mostly it's engaging and brutal in the right way. However, the core concept that has been with us since Left 4 Dead could definitely use some innovations and we can't tolerate the lack of ideas forever.

Zombie Army 4 is incredibly fun, especially when playing with friends, but I feel it could feature slightly more content. The good thing is that the developer promised us a handful of new maps. Until then, I will be polishing my weapons and I will keep throwing molotov cocktails at zombies.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is the game-iest video game I’ve reviewed in quite some time, but it actually ended up being more entertaining than I thought. While the flow of gameplay is as one-note as it gets and the story is a complete waste of time, Zombie Army 4 still features an amusing 10-12 hour campaign and horde mode that’s best experienced in short bursts.
