Terminator: Resistance Reviews

Terminator: Resistance is ranked in the 11th percentile of games scored on OpenCritic.

The score, composed by Chris Detyna, Jakub Gawlina and Leszek Górniak, impresses with fresh instrumentation and variations on Brad Fiedel’s powerful theme. Of particular note is a gorgeous acoustic rendition scoring the credits and one of multiple sex scenes, calling back to the original film. But Resistance is more than just hollow fan service or wish-fulfilment for a worn-down fanbase, as it stands out as an engaging first-person action-adventure. And, with this remaster, it gets a second wind as a truly “complete” experience.

Terminator Resistance: Complete Edition ticks a lot of boxes, the story of what happens post-Judgement Day fills in some of the gaps left by James Cameron’s original works and the first few levels where you are stalked by the machines are absolutely brilliant. It’s unfortunate that the game quickly becomes a by-the-numbers shooter with its baffling AI, bland environments and dull gameplay. The included DLC does help matters a little, with the Infiltrator Mode being a short-lived highlight, but unless you’re a diehard Terminator fan, it’s probably not for you.

Terminator: Resistance shows a bunch of potential, even if it doesn't always meet it. I was happily surprised with deeper than expected progression, and great dialogue and relationship building. But playing the game I feel stuck in the past, with visuals from yesteryear meeting good but standard gunplay. The worst part is watching the newest piece, the Annihilation Line DLC, take a step back. The Wolfenstein series does better in this sub-genre, but Terminator: Resistance is still a lot of fun to play, which says something about where it could go if Teyon gets another shot.

If you love the franchise as I do, there is some fun to be had in Terminator: Resistance, just go in with low expectations

More than just being really easy, Terminator: Resistance is also very short. Even when completing most of the side-quests, expect to negotiate the entire experience in less than 10 hours.

It resembles more of a remaster of a last-generation videogame than a current-gen title. The story can be cool towards the end for Terminator fans as you see how the first two movies began, but it's not worth the boring gameplay, mediocre visuals, and uninteresting characters.

Terminator Resistance is a surprise in many ways, and a pleasant surprise. It sees the light in parallel with the new canonical installment in the cinema but it travels in opposite ways. Although the film establishes a new future that has not satisfied the majority, many of whom believe that it works better as an action film than as a installment of the saga, Terminator Resistance by contrast brings us into that future announced in the first installments, and although it works as an independent game to the setting, it works much better as a Terminator game giving it a plus of enjoyment for all lovers of the saga.

If someone traveled in time to terminate Terminator: Resistance's development before it started, the world wouldn't be any worse than it is right now. Only one less generic FPS would exist.

Terminator Resistance is a mediocre game. This shooter just isn’t satisfying enough to recommend a buy. It has its fun moments and treats the source material well. But if you’re looking for a fun first-person shooter, you’d best look elsewhere. Terminator Resistance is definitely one for the long-time fans. Overall it feels like this game could’ve been better than it was.

Terminator: Resistance is a simple tie-in, but it doesn't push the boundaries as much other entries in the genre.

Terminator: Resistance is perhaps one of the best Terminator games, if not the very best, filled with fan-service and intense scenarios that aim to please hardcore fans and at the same time, anyone who cares for a great First-Person Shooter action game.

Terminator: Resistance can't seem to distinguish itself from the popular gaming shooter genre. Albeit some side quests and action sequences can keep the action afloat, it's not enough to come back to for this winter season.

Everything is here and had the potential to be proper Terminator cannon being a ‘prequel’ to both films. Instead, we’re left with a game that if it was a colour would be grey. Just there, nothing special, nothing stand out, just part of the colour spectrum, and easily forgotten over brighter colours. (How’s that for an analogy?) however it has its moments and if you can find it for a few quid then it’s probably worth picking up otherwise it’s the perfect game for Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Now.

Can tell that this isn't a perfect one but I am also definitely sure that they will do a lot better in their next games.

Had Terminator: Resistance released in 2008 it may have been considered one of the better licensed games of its time, but we've come a long way in ten years. In 2019, with excellent licensed titles becoming more common, Terminator: Resistance is mediocre at best. Fans may like it, but they deserve better. Maybe they'll get that game in an alternate future - who knows - but they certainly didn't today.

After Rambo The Videogame, the Teyon team tries again with a videogame transposition of the Terminator saga. The result? Not really perfect.

Expectations were never going to be too high for Terminator Resistance. Alarm bells always go off when something like this pops out of the shadow of a movie release with little fanfare, but it's remarkable how backward this game manages to be. It elicits no real emotional impact of any kind beyond maybe surprise when you find out this isn't a HD remaster of some forgotten Xbox 360 title, but a brand new 2019 release. The low budget can be forgiven for some shortcomings, but this clearly didn't get the time it needed to compliment said budget's restrictions.

Terminator: Resistance continues the trend of bad Terminator games and is better off being Terminated into the bin. You won't be back to play this one, that's for sure.

For unsightly graphics Terminator: Resistance hides a great project that offers nonlinearity, well-prescribed plot, interesting characters and a really great atmosphere of the gloomy future. Of course, the lack of budget is very noticeable in the animation and physics, but you really feel that the game is made with love.
