The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics brings back a beloved favorite in a reimagined way while also introducing a classic to a new audience. It celebrates the creative creatures we were introduced to in the Netflix series without feeling like a product-placement. If you’re looking for an introduction into tactics-style games and already love the world of The Dark Crystal this game is definitely worth checking out.

I enjoyed my time with Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics. It provided lots of variety, both in map design as well as gameplay options, while providing a, mostly, fair challenge. It keeps mostly to the plot of the series, though there are embellishments along the way.

Its beginning hours may not be exciting but once things start to open up, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics becomes a fantastic SRPG that allows for a great deal of party customization and offers plenty of varied battle scenarios.

This Netflix tie-in is an awkward adaptation, but a surprisingly smart strategy game.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a decent game despite some obvious flaws. If you compare it only to adaptations of movies and series – it’s one of the best I've seen. The game is pretty, engrossing, reasonably priced – a must-have for all fans of the Netflix series, and a strong proposition for players keen on turn-based strategies.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics doesn't do much to stand out from other turn-based tactics games, but it treats both the genre and the show—and therefore the fans of each—with the respect they deserve.

GOOD - The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a fun and interesting tactics title that will keep you entertained for many hours and will give you as much enjoyment as you want to put into it. Take your time and explore all that it has to offer by way of secondary jobs and learning the strengths and weaknesses of each character type.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics ends up doing just enough for fans of both The Dark Crystal and fans of tactical RPGs. It has enough features that allow it to stand out when compared to other titles available. Sadly, the pacing of the story and battles are relatively fast, which means that you’ll continually feel rewarded, but you won’t have an attachment to the characters.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a nice strategic RPG, however its tie-in nature is in fact a limit to its potential. Who knows what it could have been if BonusXP would have poured a bit more of courage in its develpment...

A fun strategy RPG that offers something for everyone but lacks an enjoyable story, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics assumes players are fans of the original movie, which is absolutely required viewing to get the most out of this game.

An enjoyable addendum to The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Tactics offers hours of strategic fun, though those familiar with the source material will get the most out of it.

Ultimately, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics feels like two love letters in the same package. It clearly goes out of its way to deliver the narrative of the Netflix series in a reasonably solid fashion, and utilizes some of the best parts of tactical RPG games that came before to do it. That said, it misses the mark on certain elements.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a mid-tier game with a top-tier Netflix tie-in. Where it delivers on tactical combat, it falls down in being overly grindy for resources, and a direct-from-mobile interface. If you like tactics, and you think Hup is the cutest thing ever to wield a soup spoon, then you'll like Age of Resistance Tactics.

It's highly unlikely that The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is going to be winning any awards for originality or genre-defining evolutions. That said, it's a perfectly competent tactics experience, set in a world that many have grown to love. If you're looking for solid gameplay mechanics, featuring an interesting narrative and meaty campaign, this may be just what the Mender ordered.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics brings to the Nintendo Switch a turn-based strategy game based on the Netflix series and Jim Henson's classic puppet movie and while this game relies more on CGI than on puppets, the spirit of both the series and the movie is undeniable, thanks to the way the game immerses its players and provides a welcoming environment for fans and for those just discovering the world of The Dark Crystal universe.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics doesn't do justice to its source material, nor does it come close to matching the excellence of the games it draws inspiration from- but it's solid enough. And sometimes, "solid enough" is good enough.

While I enjoyed my time with The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, I felt it was a bit too simplistic. Especially in comparison to games like Disgaea, which in my opinion is the leading game in this genre. This game is enjoyable, especially later on where more tactical options are unlocked. It is pleasing on the eyes, ears and it does its source material justice. However, I do wish more was done to help new players and players who have not watched the Netflix series. They may feel a bit lost with some of the story details.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a solid game, especially if you like the source material. If you aren't interested in the show or strategy games, then this won't convince you to like them in any meaningful way. While it was nice to replay the first season of Netflix's show, this was a missed opportunity to capitalize on the success of this new era of puppet mastery.
