Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Reviews

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is ranked in the 79th percentile of games scored on OpenCritic.

Money aside, Street Fighter V: Championship Edition doesn’t do much to fix a long list of problems that the fighting game community has pointed out about this game since the beginning and doesn’t look like they’ll do anything about it either. Long term fans will know to avoid this like the plague, diehards would have all of the content already at triple the price, and newcomers are smart for waiting out to buy this game cheap.

Despite having four years of updates behind it, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is far from the definitive version of the game. Though the core fighting engine powering this title is sound, its poor netcode and lack of polish stick out like a sore thumb.

Street Fighter V is more than capable of holding its own in a fight, especially the new Champion Edition; it’s just not an all-time great like its dad.

This is exactly what Street Fighter players have wanted. A game where all of their favorite characters and skins are available, and not having to wait for Capcom to release them when they see fit. The fighting is engaging and rewarding. Each fighter feels unique and offers a wide array of offensive attacks that land as intended. But with most modes locked behind the PS Plus service, it's a hard buy, even if you are looking to upgrade from the base Street Fighter V game.

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is your best choice for buying SFV if you haven't invested in it yet, you’ll get a lot of content out of this edition. however, the price is very controversial especially for previous owners of the game, as all that you get is old content mixed with skins with no additions to the gameplay or new features.

If you don't like the price, wait for a discount. If you can't stomach a couple of problems on the technical side of things, the most serious of which being the bad netcode, wait for a patch. If you consider yourself a fun of fighting games, however, do get Street Fighter V: Champion Edition. It's a highly enjoyable title that will manage to please newcomers and veterans, and it has tons of content for those who aren't into the online aspect of it all. It's Street Fighter V as it always should be.

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition basically offers a complete (so far) SFV package. Unlike the Arcade Edition version that brought Arcade mode and other new features, Champion Edition doesn't bring any new features. Therefore, it is a suitable package for those who wish to have everything at the lowest possible price.

The final dragon punch to our collective genitals: 2018 saw in-game advertising come along and it still irritates us in this version. Prepare to marvel at your screen as SFV tries to up-sell you the very content that's come free with your copy of Champion.

The Champion Edition still comes up short compared to many other recent fighters, but Street Fighter V is now the best it has ever been.

This Champion Edition is a cheap way to get back into Street Fighter V (when compared to the DLC packs of Tekken 7 or Dragon Ball FighterZ), but doesn't add much to its original formula.

Undoubtedly, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is one of the best and most complete fighting games of this generation; Exactly what it should have been in the beginning but didn't get to be due to Capcom's policies which didn't let the game to have more time to develop. But Capcom is now completely different from then, it stayed true to its word and supported the game up until now and has managed to give a new life to the 5th installment of one of the oldest and most popular fighting series of all time.

SFVCE is by no means an entirely new game, it’s just a culmination of where SFV has come so far. In the last four years, the game certainly has come a long way. If you’ve waited until now to jump in, this is obviously the best version to get.

Although the loading times do not really throw a spanner in the works, Capcom must do something about it. In addition, it would testify to fan service if the game is enriched with the fighters who are still missing. Just like the previous edition of the game, the Champion Edition is worth buying, unless you already have blisters and (digitally) bleeding knuckles. Then you have probably already played the most with your in-game money.

Street Fighter V Champion Edition is definitely the "definitive" version that all fans of the beloved Capcom fighting game series would have always wanted. "Immense" Roster, lots of clothes with which you can personalize your favorites and different game modes offline and online (although rarely continues to suffer from latency problems). The price of the stand alone bundle is perfectly in focus, with around € 30 you take home the base game plus 40 fighters, 200 costumes and many other interesting features. Completely different matter regarding the cost of the "upgrade kit", too high for those who already own one of the previous versions of Street Fighter V.
