Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX Reviews
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX tells a good Pokemon story from a unique angle and with visuals that help enhance the storybook feel. However, gameplay that might have held up in 2005 has not aged well.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX squanders its charming premise with repetitive gameplay.
Complex mechanics wrapped in a overly-childish shell leaves the latest entry in the Pokemon series feeling like a missed opportunity with no clear target audience. From it's dire gameplay, to its tedious mechanics and terrible story, there's little to love here. This unfortunately is one you definitely do not want to catch...
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX’s gameplay is tedious and bland. Its repetitive nature shows itself off very early on and doesn’t as the game goes on. A visually appealing Pokémon title held back by its lack of variety, the unique storytelling and visuals aren’t enough to take away from the failings of Rescue Team DX.
If this is able to re-establish the series with its new visual style on the Nintendo Switch, then I’d like where the series can go from here, with a modernised take on the formula.
As a remake, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX succeeds in recapturing the essence of the originals. I still felt a sense of urgency and stress when I was on the final floors of the Sky Tower trying to get to Rayquaza.
Rescue Team DX's charming story and beautiful visuals aren't good enough to carry the whole game by themselves, especially since the meat and potatoes here – the combat and dungeon crawling – are so repetitive and monotonous.
You are of of them so this is different game experience. But not bad at all.

DX is an absolutely worthy pick-up for any Poké-fanatic out there, whether it’s your first time venturing through a mystery dungeon or another trip down memory lane.
Nah, pass.
From its initial reveal, to its stunning redesign, its core gameplay and improved physics, right down to every bit of detail that remains faithful. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is an essential experience for any Pokemon faithful, and one they will treasure for years to come.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX's graphical style, story, and music help carry the repetitive gameplay, but the experience can start to wear on you after hours and hours of monotonous dungeon crawling."
...somewhat tedious endgame dungeons and overall repetitive dungeon-crawling probably won’t win over anyone who has previously not found the spin-off series compelling.
Rescue Team DX is exactly how a remake should be. This is a game that’s faithful to the original, with some overhauls that make it more streamlined and accessible to a brand new generation of players.
Fine to fill time or bring existing pokemon fans to other styles of games, but not for much more.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is an entertaining and quirky adventure that serves well to fill a gap between the next major title release – with revamped and vibrant visuals that accompany a different take on a Pokemon game. With accessibility for both newcomers and experienced players alike, the game keeps it simple but plays well, although the gameplay may leave you wanting more or have you preferring to play in shorter sessions.
Overall, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a solid remake of a unique Pokémon spin-off.
You can think of Mystery Dungeon games as ongoing gambles. How far can you go without depleting all your resources? Will you risk it and go deeper into the dungeon? Are you sure?
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a delightful update to a classic, and just the kick in the pants the series needed. It's a return to what made the spinoff so beloved in the first place, from the emotional story to the difficult resource management and boss fights. With a gorgeous watercolor art style, the world of Pokémon has never looked better.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is the greatest versions of this portable games.
