Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a pleasant remake of a pair of dungeon crawlers that, as I can see now, are a bit more dated than I originally thought they'd be. There is still a lot to love about this interesting spin on the Pokémon formula, but not enough for me to lose myself in the experience as I did once before.

Die-hard Pokemon fans won’t have too hard of a time deciding whether to purchase this game, but for everyone else, there is currently a demo on the eShop in which progress carries over.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is a remake from the Red & Blue Rescue Team games from the GBA and Nintendo DS respectively. It's a title full of nostalgia for those who played and loved the original, but seeing how this game was originally a handheld it might be a bit lacking for some who are looking for a brand new Switch game. We recommend playing the free demo first to see if this is something you want to spend money on.

Whether or not you like the graphic style is not easily answered in a test. I personally don't like this coloring book style at all, but still the game itself was really fun. In the end, if you're not sure about this, you should definitely treat yourself to the demo. The gameplay is monotonous and can quickly become boring. Nevertheless the game manages to cast a spell over you. Often you can't stop like that. This is certainly due to the automation possibilities that make crawling much more enjoyable. In any case, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is worth a look and a second one, even if you don't like the graphics style at first. Fans of the series should take a look here anyway!

If this is able to re-establish the series with its new visual style on the Nintendo Switch, then I’d like where the series can go from here, with a modernised take on the formula.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is basically a successful Dungeon Crawler, with over 20 hours of campaigning and an almost endless list of side quests. Apart from the sluggish and sleepy start, Rescue Team DX knows how to motivate thanks to its charming presentation and addictive Pokemon mechanics. The Rogue-Lite with Pokemon label is a nice and not too demanding pastime, especially when you're on the go, and in times of budget smartphone games, it's a welcome change.

Overall though, the flow of the game knows how to stay on top and kept me hooked until the very end. The improvements are more or less throwaways, but the core adventure is still a solid one. That is what counts in the end.

A good remake of a decent game. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX will be loved by those who played the original. Sadly it lacks the depth or challenge needed to be interesting to a wider gaming audience.

To those who never played any of the series, this is the perfect time to dive in. If you can forgive needing to turn bosses into doormats, and failing to hire the odd Pokemon, you’ll probably find the greatest challenge the franchise has offered yet.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is exactly what you expect it to be: it's a fun dungeon crawler with a cute art style, all your favourite Pokémon and an overarching message of love and friendship that is generally best suited to younger players.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is an entertaining and quirky adventure that serves well to fill a gap between the next major title release – with revamped and vibrant visuals that accompany a different take on a Pokemon game. With accessibility for both newcomers and experienced players alike, the game keeps it simple but plays well, although the gameplay may leave you wanting more or have you preferring to play in shorter sessions.

...somewhat tedious endgame dungeons and overall repetitive dungeon-crawling probably won’t win over anyone who has previously not found the spin-off series compelling.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue DX may be nostalgic to true believers of the original Blue and Red Rescue Team games, but it's a more shallow experience for everyone else that makes for an entirely forgettable experience.

As a roguelite dungeon crawler for young players it’s really impressive, but genre purists might be let down. Beyond that, this is yet another delightful game which works a treat on Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX doesn't really set out to bust expectations. It's a decent little remake of a decent little game. While a lack of challenge, so-so presentation, and an unsatisfying approach to Pokémon collecting limits Rescue Team DX's potential, exploring the game's dungeons has an undeniable Zen appeal and there's certainly a ton of content to work through. This Mystery Dungeon is worth unraveling, provided you don't mind a roguelike that's more relaxing than rigorous.

As a remake, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX succeeds in recapturing the essence of the originals. I still felt a sense of urgency and stress when I was on the final floors of the Sky Tower trying to get to Rayquaza.

This is not the best Mystery Dungeon game in the genre if you are carving for one, but for Pokémon fans, it is worth a visit especially if they have enjoyed the previous Mystery Dungeon games in the series.
