For people who like Guilty Gear’s anime graphics but don’t like how complicated those games are, or are not at all into Dragon Ball Z, this game is tailor-made for them.

Arc System Works has produced another great anime fighter that does its job of bringing in beginner fighting game players and showcasing Granblue Fantasy to a larger player base. Its graphics are amazing, its orchestral soundtrack is pleasing on the ears, and its deceptively simple combat mechanics offers a limitless serving of entertainment.

Despite its light roster and stage selection, Granblue Fantasy: Versus' sheer charm and accessibility will appeal to veterans and newcomers alike.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus is a good fighting game, but there are many better, more generous, offerings out there, even if they don’t look quite as nice.

A gorgeous fighting game even for those unfamiliar with the source material, with an easy to grasp but hard to master fighting system, and a solid RPG mode that can be played solo or in co-op. A solid recommendation to a wide range of audiences.

Granblue Fantasy Versus is a fighting game with simple and pleasant mechanics. The graphics are great and the soundtrack as well. Its RPG mode is a little bland, with a weak story, but with good boss battles. The rest of the game is what you would expect from a fighting title: Arcade Mode, ways to learn the basics, Gallery, etc. Online mode, like most Japanese games, is a delay-based netcode, something developers need to rethink about not using anymore.

Granblue Fantasy Versus is yet another arcade fighting from Arc System Works and like many others, this one also doesn't disappoint, and while some gameplay mechanics might not be as deep and well-developed when compared to leading games in the genre, overall gameplay experience and the RPG mode are enough to make it one of the top choices for the fans of the genre.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus, made by the veteran developers in Arc System works, utilizes a unique and interesting gameplay which has good depth despite its simplicity. The excellent tutorial section of this title has made it easy to recommend to players new to fighting games. Nevertheless, the scarcity of singleplayer content, boring RPG Mode, controversies surrounding DLC characters, and a net code that leaves much to be desired, have somewhat hurt the game

There's a lot of room for Granblue Fantasy: Versus to grow from here. There are a lot more characters that can be brought into the game, and many more stories that can be told through that RPG mode. As it is, however, this is a remarkably beautiful and intelligently-structured fighting game, which does justice to the source material and offers a stunning foundation for what might come into the future.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus offers promising gameplay that's sure to delight fans of fighters. On the other hand, there's so little content that it's probably best to wait for some sort of complete edition before giving it a try.

This might be the first time in which a fighting game with such a horrendously small roster size hasn’t infuriated me to death. Granblue Fantasy: Versus‘ single player campaign is so lengthy and enjoyable that it made me almost forget that there’s also an arcade mode in it. It felt more like a side-scrolling action RPG first with an arcade fighting mode added as a bonus, and I’m fine with that.

Overall, I came in knowing very little about Granblue Fantasy, and I came out not knowing much more. Despite this, Granblue Fantasy Versus is a unique and competent fighter.

These presentation issues definitely temper my excitement for what is easily one of the more accessible fighting games I’ve had the opportunity to play. Then again, that feeling of accessibility likely comes from the fact that I’ve mostly focused on the single-player mode here – a mode that everyone, not just fighting gamers, can enjoy.

Granblue Fantasy Versus has a few issues, but it’s an excellent game for fighting game newcomers and people who want a simpler fighter for a change. The story is thin and repetitive, but the varied characters and strong visuals mostly make up for these issues.

Granblue Fantasy Versus, is another essential game for digital fighting enthusiasts. Although it is a franchise little recognized in the West, its history, characters and above all gameplay will certainly bring this title to the fore and to competitive stages. This is a high quality product, the same one that arc system works has already accustomed us to.
