As someone who's experienced and loves faster-paced fighting games, this is an easy win and Under Night's formula tweaks help keep just different enough you feel like you're mastering a weapon. However, this isn't for everyone and if you're after something more feature complete like a proper story mode.

Under Night In-Birth Exe Late: [cl-r] as a 2D fighting game is a decent product and it has enough content to offer the veterans of this genre. However, it cannot compete with the more modern and better fighting games that were released recently

Under Night In-Birth: EXE Lat [cl-r] doesn't roll off easily but it doesn't mean this is not a wonderful fighting game. Thanks to its array of characters, a fine-tuned combo system (which admittedly can get frustrating at moments) and an eye-popping audiovisual world, this is an experience that easily amounts to the definitive version of this game and which will quickly become a favourite within the competitive fighting game communities.

By no means does Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] bring anything truly revolutionary to the series or even the fighting genre at this point, but it is slick, stylized and plays wonderfully. Fans of the one-on-one fighting genre should find plenty to like here, and this is about as accessible of a new fighter as you will find that on the market, while still having plenty of depth for those who really want to delve in and learn the characters.

While it doesn’t add as much as ST did, if you’re like me and only played Late, or never played any prior versions of the game, then this is still absolutely the one to go with, and is one that’s fairly fun to pick up and learn too, thanks to the crazy in-depth tutorial and huge gallery of content to unlock. Just don’t expect much of a bump up of content if you played ST previously, especially on PS3 or Vita.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] is a super slick, fast-paced fighter that manages to successfully straddle the line between being instantly accessible and welcoming for newcomers and in-depth enough to satisfy hardcore fight fans.

For those who have never played Under Night In-Birth, this version is the definitive version to buy. UNICLR is an incredible anime fighting game that has held up well over the years. The online mode isn't as active as one might wish, but the story, visuals, game modes, and gameplay are fantastic. I recommend this to new players and veterans of fighting games alike.

The combat mechanics are deep and extremely interesting to master, but this new release doesn't offer enough additions to the ones who already bought Exe: Late[st].

Stylish, methodical, and encouraging attacking gameplay, this latest Under Night In-Birth title is as exciting as always, and Switch owners that have yet to try the series out are in for a treat, with plenty of modes, a lengthy visual novel chronicle, online play, and a varied cast of characters. Despite the array of balance and move tweaks, though, this just isn't enough of an improvement over the previous title, with only one extra character being introduced. This is still a top anime fighter, though, and a good alternative to BlazBlue.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late [cl-r] is the same as always in the saga, but with a new character and a balance of the characters on-line. It is fluid and addictive, but it can end tiring us quickly.

It's oozing with style, it's shockingly accessible, and the back-and-forth exchanges prompted by the Grind Grid system make for non-stop excitement in every match. There's even a fifteen hour visual novel experience in the Chronicles mode that helps flesh out the world and characters of Under Night In-Birth, though personally I think I'm more afraid of understanding all the insane proper nouns in the plot summary than I am excited. This was a worthy addition to both the EVO lineup and the Switch lineup, and there's nothing I want more now than to see the game finally reach the mainstream success it deserves.
