Xenoblade Chronicles: Definite Edition truly lives up to its title in a time where others have done the bare minimum when it comes to making older games available on the current hardware generation. The addition of extra content is also a nice touch and being able to play such a quality title again in this manner easily makes it another essential game to play on the ever popular Nintendo Switch.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition remains a great recommendation for newcomers. Players who have already had the experience a long time ago will find a great opportunity to dive once more into one of the most unforgettable JRPG-worlds that shaped the genre far beyond the Nintendo Platform.

A classic RPG, better and prettier than ever, but with many limitations of its old engine.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is first and foremost one of the best restoration works that we have been able to try for some years now. Refined, improved, expanded and with a technical sector in line with the current productions available on Nintendo Switch.

Xenoblade Chronicles was a gem on the Wii and a good add to RPG collections even on the New Nintendo 3DS. We praised the 3DS re-release for its ability to be enjoyed on the go — something that’s great for any long-running RPG, to be honest — and the Switch version’s able to do that while adding a new coat of paint and content at the same time. The end result makes it an easy recommendation to Switch players and RPG fans alike.

Considered by many a masterpiece, the original Xenoblade Chronicles is not without flaws. Thankfully, the Definitive Edition addresses many of the issues. The story remains just as amazing, and with all the improvements of this release it elevates the game to new heights.

All in all, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is a fantastic title that's well worth playing. With a story you'll remember for a long time to come, characters to love, and a particularly good combat system, the game is well worth playing. Especially on the Switch, the game comes into its own thanks to the option to play handheld.‎

Despite being a decade-old game, the UI tweaks, visual upgrade and new content makes Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition as memorable as the original one, even if certain aspects of its mechanic haven't aged that well.

The new Future Connected story chapter isn’t particularly inspired, but the impressive graphical overhaul and welcome (if small) quality-of-life improvements make this the best version of Xenoblade Chronicles we’ve ever had.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is the best sort of remaster: its improvements may seem minimal, but it overhauls most of the tedium that once plagued the Wii RPG classic. While some things it can't fix with polish—the too-big environments, the boring side quests, its messy battle system—for fans or curious new players, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is easily the best Xenoblade Chronicles out there, even with its annoyances.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is an improved version of a 10-year-old role-playing game, originally launched for the Nintendo Wii. It is possible to discuss whether the upgrade is sufficient on all fronts, but at least we get a bit finer environments, new music, improved character models and more thoughtful menus – and not least a whole new chapter. But above all, we get a role-playing game that, if you can forgive some outdated details, even today is one of the best the genre has to offer.

After bouncing so hard off Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I really hoped that the Definitive Edition of this first game in the series might show me why the franchise has such a dedicated fan base. While it took a while to warm up to, by the end of the story I was absolutely invested in the ridiculous story of Shulk and his friends as they fight for the future of their world.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition has been a long time coming in many ways. And for those who haven't gotten to play as Shulk and his allies before, now is definitely the time! It's not perfect, but it's still a game that you'll want to check out and see just how incredible the original Xenoblade Chronicles is!
