Streets of Rage 4 is back after 26 years, and it feels exactly the same as before. It can serve as a great example to the new generation on how we used to game, and the original fans of the series will find themselves in heaven with it.

It’s clear that a lot of love went into making Streets of Rage 4. The developers have taken this classic series and added just enough to make it there own while also building off of what makes this series so great. The length of the adventure may be an issue for some, but there are more than enough reasons to return to the streets for another round.
A direct and updated sequel to the saga and the same brawler genre, with quality and respect. Classic form and modes in a work so indebted to the past games of the saga, as pampered and cared for the public of the 21st century. The return of Streets of Rage is direct fun and delicious rhythm, to return to it on multiple occasions as demanded by the best exponents of the brawler of yesteryear.

Streets of Rage 4 is a great return of a beloved series that will please both nostalgic fans and the new generation of gamers. It's nothing revolutionary, but it isn't outdated and stuck in the past either.

Despite the lack of a few features, this latest installment does for Streets of Rage what Sonic Mania did for its respective series.
A bold return after 26 years of absence

Streets of Rage 4 pulls off an almost impossible task and revives a long dormant franchise in a very satisfying way. I personally would've liked a more gritty look and a little more innovation on the gameplay side but all in all, this is exactly what I expected from a Streets of Rage title in 2020.

An excellent return to form for gaming's favourite beat 'em-up franchise and while it doesn't represent much evolution from the original games it's still just as much fun as ever.
Streets of Rage 4 expertly revives a beloved beat-'em-up franchise with great music, visuals, and most importantly, solid gameplay.
Streets of Rage 4 is a small, concentrated hit of beat 'em up excellence. While its length and lack of extra modes might make this offering seem slim, it makes up for it with brilliant fighting, effusive style, and another solid set of tunes. If beat 'em up games are seeing a revival, Streets of Rage 4 is leading the charge.
A dive into the past, of course, but which does not bask in simple nostalgia, trying to offer the best of side-scrolling beat'em up genre, not just the Streets of Rage saga. A quarter century later, walking around a city full of thugs has probably never been this fun.

Streets of Rage 4 doesn't do much to advance the formula of classic beat 'em ups and that's what makes it great. The game can be completed in roughly three hours, which is just enough for this type of game. Unlocking all the Easter eggs is a nice way to add to the nostalgia fix. Playing through with each character offers a slightly different game experience, but the real joy comes from playing these types of games with friends. Streets of Rage 4 is a must play for fans of retro beat 'em ups.
Meet Streets of Rage 4 on its own terms and you'll discover a sometimes cheap, yet often rewarding revival of a once dead franchise. The soundtrack is stellar, art design fantastic, animations superb, and controls precise. But, if you expected all the former sins of the genre to be absolved after 26 years you'll have to look elsewhere.
When the credits rolled, I felt better, gunning for action, as if life were a thing to rage through with a smile on your face. How often does that happen?
Streets of Rage 4 delivers a powerful celebration of brawling nostalgia with a host of great modes and distinct characters.
Streets of Rage 4 is a worthy continuation of the beloved series that has preserved the atmosphere and drive of its predecessors. The developers managed not only to play on the nostalgia of fans, but also to make a modern game that cannot be accused of being too archaic. The project is undoubtedly a must-buy for fans of the genre and all those who appreciate easy-to-learn, but addictive games.

Twenty five years after the last episode, Streets of Rage sure is back. Filled with love for the series, Streets of Rage 4 is a dense and rich experience, thanks to more complex mecanics, lots of beautiful levels, and so many game modes to play it again and again. Too bad the promised soundtrack does not reach the same hights, and that we will have to wait for a correct online experience.

It's the best kind of retro throwback, reminding us how hard these kinds of games could hit.
Fans of the original have no excuse for not picking it up and reliving some cherished memories with a friend. And even nostalgia aside, it’s one of the most fun beat-em-ups I’ve played in years with a lot going for it.
