Aftermath is not a huge expansion, but every bit of content that comes with it is fitting perfectly with what the base game already had to offer.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a great continuation of the story, but the cost is rather steep for what you're getting. Fujin and Sheeva are brilliant additions to the roster, even if RoboCop doesn't work as well.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a short and sweet expansion of new stories, characters and gruesome action that gives fans more of what they love.

In terms of the quality of the content, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a great addition to a genre that typically only sees smaller updates like characters and stages. Shang Tsung taking a lead role brings a classic Mortal Kombat feel back to the story that has long since abandoned the more grounded conflict between the realms for events taking place on a much grander scale across time. While its price as an add-on may be pretty high for what it ultimately delivers, being part and parcel of a complete collection of Mortal Kombat 11 makes it a great entry point for new players who didn’t pick the brutal fighter up since it released last year.

Although the steep price may be tough to swallow, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is an impressive addition to the core game. The new additions to the roster are (generally speaking) a blast to use, and the additional story beats give fresh life to some of the more colorful faces of the franchise.

Ask yourself two questions: Did you love the Mortal Kombat 11 campaign and want more? Are you dying to play as Fuijin, Sheeva, and/or RoboCop? If the answer is yes to either of these questions, then MK11: Aftermath is a definite buy if you enjoyed the gameplay of Mortal Kombat 11. If not, then I’d hold off.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a fantastic ending to Mortal Kombat's story, and adds three fantastic characters to the game. Casual fans might find it a little pricey, but this is an excellent expansion.

This still a great game in its presentation and gameplay and wealth of content and a great choice for newcomers, but for existing owners the Aftermath expansion might seem a bit light in content compared to the asking price.

...Those who have never played MK11 before can purchase the base game, the Kombat Pack and Aftermath for $59.99. This is an absolute steal for what may be the best fighting game of the generation. Aftermath reinvigorated Mortal Kombat 11 in such a way I can’t help but not recommend it.

It may be pricey for the amount of content it offers but the story makes up for this flaw and sets up a better path for the future of the series compared to the main game's ending.

Yep, we’ve all said it. Followed by a thrust of our hands forwards and then back towards our chest, imitating the infamous Scorpion setting in his ranged stinger from this critically acclaimed franchise. Mortal Kombat 11 has found its place with casual beat-em-up gamers and pro players alike since its launch in April 2019, and with 13 months of optimisations and updates, we finally welcome the first major DLC for this franchise, ‘Aftermath’ to the fold. Our very own Craig Green already covered the main game back last year, the link to the review can be found here. We won’t be retracing these steps today and will just be focusing on the additions found as part of this pricey DLC.

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is the biggest update for the game yet. It adds three hours to the already epic storyline and next to that three great characters, Sheeva, Fujin and RoboCop. Next to the new story and characters the bloodshed can be varied in new levels with stage fatalities of in a more peaceful matter with a friendship. The only real downside to the content is the price. If you already have the game and other DLC this is a pretty steap deal. Otherwise, this is the moment to step in the game.

The new DLC brings more fun to an already great game, however, it should have been available at a more reasonable price point.

A compelling DLC for an excellent game. It's more of the same, but with new and interesting characters.

The fanservice is very welcome and all three of the characters are interesting, but it's difficult to suggest buying this expansion at full price, unless you're a hardcore fan.

All in all, MK11: Aftermath is a fun reason to revisit an aging game. The new story is enjoyable for Shang Tsung alone, and the new characters add a bit to the game. However, if you've been keeping up with MK, then the $40 price tag might be too heavy for the amount of content that you get. Once the price comes down, it'll be a worthwhile way to round out Mortal Kombat 11's story. You'll get to arrest evil sorcerers as Robocop, and isn't that what we've all wanted to do?
