A competent but shallow and overfamiliar attempt to replicate Assassin's Creed style open world adventure in the world of 13th century samurai.
Ghost of Tsushima does not stray away from your typical AAA Open World game, but it does some small changes and improvements that make it a lot more pleasant and fun than other games in the genre. The game's combat is satisfying (the stealth is not), and it's got one of the most beautiful worlds I've ever had the pleasure to play in.

As the swan song of the PS4 generation, Ghost of Tsushima is suitably a mishmash of many of the generation’s biggest things with a sprinkle of new ideas.
If the game was developed a little more it might have turned out to be a classic, but with this current state Ghost of Tsushima is only a good action game.

A decent open-world game with gorgeous art direction and some unfortunate missteps which become more and more apparent the more you play. Whatever you are doing here, almost every mission ends up with two or even three fights with mongolian soldiers. And even engaging stories during these quests can't fix the repetitiveness.

I was hoping for an original take on the open-world genre, but I got Assassin's Creed in samurai drag. If that sounds like a blast to you, it will be, especially if you go into it with the knowledge of the game's design missteps. It's not that it's bad - it's just bad for me.
But that solution is an easy one given the depth of exploration and combat mastery offered. Whether you want to just fight to grow your legend, see your companions' tales through to their emotional conclusions, or just see what's over the next hill, there's no wrong answer when you're asking yourself what you should be doing in Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Tsushima is undoubtedly poetic in its beauty and respect for the culture from which it takes shape, elevating it beyond all expectations.

Tradition, pride, honor. The game starts with this words and is clear their matrix: not the historically accurate Samurai, but the Kurosawa's ones. Kurosawa ispired the western genre and so it's fair that the Far West came back to East.

Overall, Ghost of Tsushima is a gorgeous and highly engaging narrative adventure, with some rote open world activities and small frustrations in combat.
Ghost of Tsushima isn't perfect but, like a summoned objective on your touchpad, it's a breath of fresh air that'll send a warm chill down the spine of any Samurai aficionado.

Ghost of Tsushima is a slight surprise. It is an all-around experience which delivers the fantasy of being a mythical samurai warrior. However, not everything shines, especially with the stealth systems, that do not square up, mechanically nor thematically. As the old saying goes, a samurai cannot obey 2 masters, because he dishonors himself. Thus, Ghost of Tsushima is a reminder of why Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are generational gems and benchmarks in open world terms.
