Mr. DRILLER: DrillLand is cute but overpriced.
Despite the 19year long wait, the original has already proven to be one the best. There were no issues at all to enjoy this game to its fullest in the current age. There has been some remastering done with its graphics and audio but the rest stay true to its original, in its ported state. Although if you were a long running fan, there were certainly some areas where you would have felt ‘why weren’t these taken care of?’, which were some of the changes to the main modes of the game. Thus there was nothing more or less of a great revival of an old classic, and it’s a shame that it didn’t live up to the expectations to become a new addition to the series.

Stop by the Drill Land amusement park where virtual thrills are themed with virtual drills. Namco’s classic arcade puzzler Mr. Driller returns in style with an HD remaster of 2002’s Mr. DRILLER DrillLand. If you’ve never heard of it, there’s good reason; this GameCube release never arrived on Western shores, until now.
Mr. Driller Drillland is an entertaining puzzle for both casual and expert. The only bad thing is that is a really short game.

Drill Land’s few but varied problems, most of them, stem from the fact that it’s a 2002 game in 2021. It gets repetitive and dull within an hour of playtime, which is a caveat to its design and age. Pick it up, play, set it down and wait for the itch to come back. In the long term, one may call it a game that has outlived interest… or not. Being nearly two decades old, it has survived the attention span of one generation, but it may be ready for the next. The endless dig suffices for short bursts of fun, but it’s also more compelling when played competitively. Unfortunately, at the time of this review, online matchmaking is rather desolate. Because it’s so different from today’s console titles and part of a retro genre that’s more akin to modern mobile games, the time might be ripe for re-release.
This Mr. Driller entry is a must-buy for anyone who injects puzzle gaming juice in their veins, especially for anyone who hasn't played a Mr. Driller game before. Come for the catchy music and remastered artwork, stay for the drilling.
GREAT - Mr. Driller DrillLand took a long time to make it to our shores, but now that it’s here puzzle game fans have a reason to celebrate. With multiple modes of play you get to experience Mr. Driller like never before! The soundtrack is absolutely off the charts and fans of bubbly Japanese music will be in heaven. A lack of online multiplayer and leaderboards slightly hampers the replay value, but don’t let that deter you from nabbing this from the eShop.
Mr. Driller DrillLand is the perfect bite-sized puzzle game for the Switch. Its western debut has been long overdue, but this release encapsulates all the zany characters and addictive drilling-puzzles for new and old fans alike. A few new attractions would have made this release a proper remake, but the added casual mode and updated visuals do enough to bring this series to puzzle-lovers everywhere.
Mr. Digger: Drill Land is a very charming and fun digging-based arcade game that offers a variety of unique stages with their own gimmicks and rules.
With engaging mechanics, a quirky art style, energetic music and plenty of variety, this is a great title, especially given the low price of $29.95 AUD.
A wonderful puzzler with a marvellous aesthetic. Like a children's anime come to life, Mr. DRILLER DrillLand is utterly charming and delightful. Every attraction looks great, delivering sharp, vibrant, and colourful stages in every attraction. As good as it looks, it plays even better. A simple and addictive core basis that has the heart of a classic matching colour puzzler but adds an exhilarating twist to the proceedings with the drilling mechanics. This should be a no brainer purchase, but there's something that will put off many players. It's called the Atlantic Ocean. For some reason, the asking price is literally double in the US than it is in the EU. A baffling and disappointing decision that will sadly stop this reaching as many homes as it should.
Mr. DRILLER DrillLand is easy to recommend. It’s bright, bold and colourful, and most importantly, a lot of fun to play. It’s simple to get the hang of, but each separate game mode requires serious practice to truly master. If you enjoy the simple pleasures of a classic arcade-style game, you can’t go far wrong here.
A charming and varied version of one the most addictive puzzlers around, and an ok remaster of the best entry in the series.

Mr.Driller DrillLand is a colourful and bubbly experience filled with addicting and rewarding gameplay as well as an amazing soundtrack.
Mr. Driller DrillLand is a top-notch puzzle game eighteen years after its initial release and doesn't look or feel its age at all.
This remastered version of Mr. Driller DrillLand is just a fresh coat of paint, but frankly, that's all it needed.
Mr. Driller Drill Land is an easy to learn but hard to master arcade puzzler that has brilliant music, responsive controls, and a ton of personality.
Finally making its way out of Japan for the first time, Mr. Driller DrillLand is still the best entry in this niche puzzle franchise and fits right at home on the Nintendo Switch.
Celebrating 20 years of Mr. Driller with the remaster of its best chapter yet. Too bad there is not much new content, yet the game is very enjoyable both in single player and multiplayer.
