Ultimately, I don’t think I was the right person to review Keen: One Girl Army. It’s not horrible, and I like the ambitious scope of the adventure, but it’s also much more hardcore than I was expecting. That said, it’s attractive and has good replay value, apparently featuring a secret ending if you’re patient enough to 100% every level and unlock every Shrine. With all that in mind, Keen isn’t a bad deal for $15.99. Ultimately I think this is a good experiment from Cat Nigiri, and I hope they’re not discouraged by my thoughts. If you’re a fan of puzzles, not matter how difficult, then this is your game.

Keen: One Girl Army is a stylish, fun game that stands on its own by mixing together sliding puzzle gameplay with turn-based tactics and some light dungeon exploration. While it's not as replayable as it wishes it could be, it's still an enjoyable puzzle game even if it might be a little much at times. If you're looking for something that innovates on puzzle games in the same vein as Hatsworth, Puzzle Quest, or Slayaway Camp, Keen's the game for you, but it likely won't hit the highs of those games.

Overall, Keen: One Girl Army is short, but a lot of fun with some really solid mechanics and well done puzzle building. With some quirky aspects yet simply gameplay, Keen is likely to give you a great puzzle solving, zombie slicing adventure. With plenty of hidden objects and bonus puzzles in the temples, Keen is a really good addition to your puzzle game library.

This game is far from being the deepest nor most intense puzzler you’ll ever play, but it works very well with what it’s got and has enough variety to keep you guessing, not to mention a very rewarding challenge curve that will have you coming back for more in order to beat levels with the least amount of moves or without taking a hit, for instance, or to collect all the challenge orbs used to unlock extra stages. If you’re in the market for more quality puzzle games to add to your Switch library, you can’t go wrong with Keen: One Girl Army.
