A studied recreation of Crash Bandicoot's halcyon days, that does little to innovate the formula but still offers a fun and varied slice of 90s style platforming.

A classic renewed while a good update it maintains the essence of the series, including it’s challenging later levels. While some of them take a long time to beat it is still one of the best platfomers of the past years.

This latest entry may not feature the inspired level design that made the original trilogy much-loved by fans, but it does undoubtedly feature the best platforming in the history of the franchise.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a brilliant sequel to the original trilogy that makes Crash a relevant gaming figure once more. You'll have a ton of fun navigating each level and unlock gems while learning from each death as you laugh along with Crash and friends. While it is more of the same mechanics, the new content is well worth seeing what made Crash so much fun years ago.

Twelve years after Crash Bandicoot’s last original adventure on home consoles, Activision and Toys for Bob have embarked on a gamble as risky as ambitious : to bring the famous orange marsupial back to the forefront of the video game scene with an episode paying homage to the original trilogy of the 90s. A challenge that worried more than one after the many years of wandering that the series knew. But for our greatest happiness : the bet is raised hands down. With Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Toys for Bob undoubtedly delivers us one of the best episodes released to date and proves us at the same time that it’s never too late to revive the icon of a whole generation. Whether through its story, its gameplay or its artistic direction, this new adventure appears with every minute passing as a true love letter to Naughty Dog’s work. And we can say it… it was about time !

Replay value is high if you have the guts and stamina to earn almost 30 skins, and to acquire all the relics. It’s About Time might run a bit steep for what is effectively a meaty PlayStation 1 game with Pixar graphics, but this is the core ethos of Crash Bandicoot. If you enjoyed the N. Sane Trilogy, you will adore this.

Crash Bandicoot 4‘s stellar level design, responsive controls, deep replayability, and superb animation all come together to create such an outstanding experience that not only brings this bandicoot back to life, but also removes it from the dusty shelf where all the other taxidermied ’90s platforming mascots go to be forgotten.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is as much a brand new title as it is closely entwined with the history of the PlayStation 1 trilogy. Long time fans will find something new to enjoy, while first time players stepping into the jorts of the orange chordata might fall prey to cheap deaths, time and time again.

Crash 4 isn't just a competent sequel, it's a genuinely well-made platformer in its own right. It expands on its now-ancient predecessors in meaningful ways, and incorporates some truly lovely visuals alongside plenty of compelling and challenging level designs that manage to stay fresh throughout.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a fiendishly difficult platformer that carries on Crash's legacy with aplomb. Though it sometimes feels like it hews a little too closely to the established formula, what it adds makes it more than just a worthwhile sequel. It's just a damn good game.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a reminder of how good platformers can be when in the right hands. Taking you through several diverse dimensions with their own unique challenges, Crash Bandicoot 4 combines responsive controls and a gorgeous art style to create an exciting adventure. Do I remember the story? Not too much, but the gameplay is where Crash shines. A new Modern mode in addition to its Retro mode makes it even more accessible for everyone.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time carries on Crash's story as time-space is in trouble again. Toys for Bob have added a lot to this new Crash and while a lot of it works really well, what doesn't work does let the package down. Crash fans will still enjoy even for the new adventure.

Overall, the people at Toys for Bob have done a wonderful job with the property, and that’s not really surprising. Their past games like Skylanders have tapped into the same lighthearted fun that Crash is known for. They demonstrated an ability to make likable characters in those titles and now they’ve taken a franchise full of likable characters and made them even more likable.

Ultimately, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time had a lot riding on it. Being the sequel to a 22-year-old game likely presented Toys for Bob with some developmental challenges, but the development team nailed nearly everything about this sequel.
