In its quest to be the "definitive" LEGO Star Wars game, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga tries to do too much and suffers as a result. While the game offers players a variety of different game modes and level types, there's nothing that it truly excels in. The puzzles are OK, the vehicles are OK, the missions are OK, and the story set pieces are good but not great. Honestly, if not for the fact that the game still has that crucial LEGO Star Wars charm and humor, a lot of players would probably be very frustrated with the game experience. Even with its lack of polish, I enjoyed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga because I love Star Wars and I love building LEGO sets. But people who don't share that passion won't get as much enjoyment from this flawed experience as I did.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has lots of ambition but lacks focus.

There just isn’t enough juice in the combat, the cover shooting, or the endless hoovering of collectibles.

The Skywalker Saga aims to be the greatest LEGO Star Wars experience of all time, only to be a middling mess. Fans will still get something out of it, but nothing here warrants all the headache behind the scenes over the last few years. Despite all odds, TT Games’ latest is a chaotic pile of bricks that never quite click together right.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a thrill for the senses and will frequently tickle your nostalgia bone. However, it lacks creative spark and is content to regurgitate its source material instead of building something new. A Kyber pass, just about.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a blindingly bright love letter to the entire series with a sheen that's often diminished by its own technical shortcomings.

Perhaps start with the prequels so that if you encounter this issue, you'll only lose a little progress as opposed to half the game. Though it should be noted that I did have the desire to push on. There are plenty of games where a bug like this would have simply stopped me from playing, and while I won't lie and say it didn't hurt my opinion, I still ultimately made the decision to start again and push past it.

Traveller's Tales return to the LEGO fray is a double-edged sword of good intentions, and the over-complication of its famous brand of gameplay. At its best, The Skywalker Saga sees itself touching greatness it hasn't seen since the seventh generation of gaming.

And each space has been generously designed from both a LEGO and franchise perspective, serving up some of the prettiest Star Wars locales in gaming to date.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a good remastering of the LEGO Star Wars games of the past, giving a more extended version of each game in addition to updating the graphics for each story. However, this is showing that the LEGO formula itself is becoming dated when all it can do is add a fresh coat of paint to a series of games that we have seen done to death by this point, including the beginning of the Rey Trilogy.

Overall, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Galactic Edition is a strong game in the series. Those who didn't pick up the Skywalker Saga normal release earlier this year will find some enjoyment at the inclusion of a new set of characters, particularly those from Star Wars TV shows, although it's nothing essential for those who already own the game. The changes to the LEGO formula are a bit hit and miss, but in general land well - hopefully there will be a tweak to how the co-op works for future releases, though.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga turned out to be an exciting, though not an ideal game for the whole family. It offers a large amount of content, but it is obvious that the developers did not cope with the scale of their creation.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga does a lot of things right that make it the best LEGO Star Wars game, and LEGO game to date. But it's level structure and pacing leave something to be desired more often than not, and co-op play has seemingly gotten far less care and attention than it deserved, putting a damper on what is otherwise a hilarious and fun experience.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga providing such a huge toybox of characters, worlds, vehicles, and more to unlock and play will make it essential for many Star Wars fans. In terms of sheer scale, size, and scope, this is far beyond anything Traveller’s Tales have put out before with the LEGO brand. Unfortunately, some of that ambition is undermined by the lackluster implementation of certain ideas that are supposed to be its big selling points, such as its improved combat and new camera angle. This is arguably not quite the Star Wars game you’re looking for, but it does more than enough right.

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga is great for children who haven’t experienced the Star Wars movie. Die-Hard Star Wars fans will probably put this game down after a few hours and return it. The game does offer a lot of gameplay but the mechanics and controls hold it back. Even though the game’s graphics are polished, the game’s system feels out of date. Loading screens should not exist on the Xbox Series X. If you have a child or partner you want to introduce to Star Wars then Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga can be a good entry point. However, if you are a moderate or Die-Hard Star Wars fan, then the game will get old quickly. If you are on the fence about this game, it is better to wait for it to go on sale. A good purchase price is somewhere between $5 to $30. For a Lego game, it doesn’t feel like a Lego game; the game is missing the typical Lego comedic moments.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a playful and colourful depiction of a galaxy far, far away, and one that boasts about as much play time as you’d ever want to get out of a single game should you be willing to endure some significant repetition in order to wring every drop out of it. With hilarious retellings of all nine movies and some new gameplay elements, there’s a lot to like, but clunky camera angles and the head-scratching decision to leave out online multiplayer hurts the overall impression. This might just be the definitive LEGO Star Wars game that fans are looking for, but since only Sith deals in absolutes, I’ll leave that judgement to the will of the council.

Unlike the films that it is based upon, The Skywalker Saga is remarkably steady in quality even if the formulaic approach can start to wear thin after the initial shock of the much-improved core gameplay wears off.
