Ooblets had enormous potential, but the sheer amount of grinding and shallow mechanics really disappointed me. Unless you don't mind dull and repetitive gameplay loops, I don't recommend trying it.

Despite having the usual farming game loop that was able to suck me in easily, I felt less and less like I was having any fun as time went on. While there is funny writing and cute little collectable creatures to be found in Ooblets, it just wasn't enough to leave me with a satisfied feeling by the end of my time with it. It's a shame because there's obviously a lot of heart put into this game, but heart alone cannot sustain a game like this for an extended period of time.

Ooblets is a fun game that will keep you busy for days. But some parts can be overwhelming and feel unbalanced at times.

Ooblets offers solid fun, and I enjoy its cheerful tone. I only wish playing it didn’t feel so much like work. Despite the pride I had in my farm, clearing checklists eventually felt more laborious than satisfying. There’s fun to be had as long as you’re willing to work for it.

I’m in awe of Ooblets; it managed to take several distinct and highly developed mechanics and make sure each one was deeply complex instead of a cheap afterthought. The farming portion satisfies, the card-based, turn-based dance battles are addicting, and the task management system keeps players busy, busy, busy. It’s unfortunate that progress still feels like it’s moving at a snail’s pace, but at least there are cute lil ooblets to show for it. If all you want to do is dance (and farm, and forage, and cook, and shop, and…), then Ooblets challenges you to take control of your formerly toot life and make it an awesome one.

Despite the evident control flaws, Ooblets is an undeniably charming and fun life simulator perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing approach to adventure. There's enough content within this adorable game to keep any player occupied for hours, with the central campaign taking around thirty hours to complete - though avid explorers will get closer to the sixty-hour mark if they can get past the expensive, exhausting stamina system. Still, even post storyline, Ooblets kept us coming back for more farming and more dance-offs.

Despite an extended stay in Game Preview, Ooblets' 1.0 launch has been plagued with glitches. Still, the charmingly quirky game developed by a small indie studio is hard not to love.

Ooblets is a peculiarly enjoyable jack-of-all-trades adventure that stumbles near the finish line. The slice-of-life farming sim and town interaction are more developed than the card battling, and the leveling system feels unfinished. That said, the game may expand with additional content or balance patches as the developer continues to update it. Priced at half the cost of a typical full-fledged game, Ooblets is still worth playing for a few hours or so every once in a while, but there are better farming sims, monster battlers, and card-based games out there.

As Ooblets is in early access, its story stops short right when it's getting started--but what's already in the game is pretty good.

Ooblets is an adorably sweet meal made with familiar creature-collection and farming sim-style ingredients, but its flavor is missing the depth it needs to make it stand out.

Lots of style and plenty of things to do in a game unable to fulfill its true potential.

Ooblets is an immediately charming game with its whimsical cast of characters, that does enough different in the genre to help keep you wanting to check back into it when the mood strikes.

Ooblets makes a good effort in innovating on the numerous and currently highly popular farm sim genre, creating an interesting mix of genres in the process. The result is a game that doesn't dive deep into any of its elements but presents all of them in a light and dynamic fashion. Even if it's bound to a repetitive cycle of gathering missions in a world that can be adorable to some [players], the title offers a lot of content for the collectionists.

Ooblets is a quiet and genuinely entertaining game, which although not as complex as other games in the genre, will give you an experience full of personality and joy.

Ooblets as a whole is one of the finer life simulation games ever made.

Despite these few flaws, Ooblets is an incredibly strong title that combines several genres into one deeply cute and satisfying experience that stands on its own. Ooblets is not a game to be strategically min-maxed or sped through, and the lack of stakes in the game - particularly the fact Ooblets can't die - is incredibly welcome, encouraging players to take their time. Ooblets is hands-down one of the most unique simulation games of the last several years, and offers a truly creative new take on cozy gaming.

My time with Ooblets started off rocky, and while it did take a while for me to get into the groove of things and finally settle into the comfy farm life that I so desperately crave from these games, I’m glad I stuck with it. And just like Stardew Valley, Ooblets 1.0 definitely has the potential to keep growing and expanding beyond its current scope. It’s a fantastic farming sim as is, but the real excitement comes from what it could eventually become in the future.

It's still a bit rough around the edges, but Ooblets is a quirky combination of monster collecting RPG and farming sim. The humor and characters are incredibly charming, and the core gameplay loop is a ton of fun. For every annoying dungeon, there's some cute Ooblets to battle and collect just around the corner. What Ooblets lacks in polish, it makes up for in charm.
