Bite the Bullet doesn’t manage to reach any level of being interesting. It’s a game full of interesting ideas that could have been amazing were they featured on a polished and fun title. Unfortunately, Bite the Bullet is incredibly half-baked. It’s an empty world full of boring and incredibly repetitive enemies and backgrounds. It could have been an interesting twist on roguelike games, but as it stands, it’s simply a shell that needs molding.

Appetizing gameplay and hilarious themes make for a tasty meal.

Bite the Bullet is mostly worth what they’re asking for it. It’s an unfocused gem, relying on a lot of mechanics, systems, and subsystems that gets in its own way. The traditional run and gun gameplay is amplified by being able to eat almost everything in sight, and the artful precision one must employ keeps you always thinking when other games wouldn’t. Bite the Bullet is a clever, but flawed game drenched in nostalgia that never existed, while also reminding you to be careful what you eat.

GOOD - Bite The Bullet is a fun game to play and offers some new dynamics to the classic run-and-gun genre. It introduces some new features, such as eating enemies, walls, etc., to level up and unlock skills. Couch co-op is where it’s at if you’re in the mood for a unique take on Contra.

With a very interesting basic idea, Bite the Bullet is like one of those traditional simple buffet restaurants. On the one hand, you will find a lot of good things, like beautiful visuals, fun challenges and a lot of content to explore. On the other hand, sophistication and care for details will be in the background. In the end, the result is still a good game, perfect for those who love to taste a good roguelite accompanied with elements of platform and RPG.

In the near future, an economic crash caused by under-population and pollution leads to huge food shortages and starvation across the world. A reprieve from these desperate times is granted in the form of a unique device called ‘Bionodes’ which when implanted in a Human allows them to eat anything. However this device has side effects of its own which turned most of the population into mutants and are known as “ghoulification”.

Before I begin I'd like to thank and acknowledge all indie developers that take risks and provide us with new and unique challenges that don't fit into any traditional molds...

Bite the Bullet is a solid action game but not everyone will enjoy watching their character eat and barf their way through the journey.

The most unfortunate thing while looking back at this game is how fun it could have been if they focused less on adding so many ideas and just focused on the idea of shooting and eating and making it accessible for all players. If they had done this and made the co-operative function of the game cleaner, this would be a game I would love to play to kill time when I had my friends around and wanted to play something easy but unique. Then the humorous ideas around the idea of eating, belching, getting too fat by overconsumption, and more would all shine even more with multiplayer.

Bite the Bullet may resemble classic games like Contra or Metal Slug, but it is far from delivering a satisfying experience. The mix of styles does not work and, even if it has a functional combat, it becomes a repetitive, tedious and uninteresting game.

Bite the Bullet is an aesthetically unappealing mess of ideas. Its shooting has some nutritional value, but it's bogged down by terrible presentation and lackluster execution.

Bite the Bullet is a decent run-and-gun game; the eating mechanic was a fun addition to the style. While long levels may seem like a good idea, it often felt a bit overwhelming. The level goals were also a decent addition to the genre; however, the length of the levels had me struggling to complete them. Fans of run-and-gun games may want to consider Bite the Bullet. Players who are not run-and-gun enthusiasts might want to steer away from this title.

Despite its flaws, Bite the Bullet is a fun experience that we’d recommend if you’re a fan of franchises like Metal Slug.

Bite the Bullet is a game of great ideas that are hamstrung by terrible controls, performance issues, and a flow of combat that's at odds with the very gimmick that makes it stand out from the pack. All of that makes for an experience that bits off far more than it's capable of chewing.

Bite the Bullet is a 2D side-scrolling shooter with an interesting eating mechanic. Choosing your food preferences and acquiring skills based on them is neat and clever, as is managing calorie, fat, and protein intake while devouring foes. Levels and enemies can get repetitive, but it's not that big of a deal.

Bite the Bullet is a great game in theory, but framerate issues, loose controls, and oversized maps make it hard to recommend.
