8.3 / 10.0 - That Dragon, Cancer
Jan 11, 2016

That Dragon, Cancer is an emotional powerhouse that doesn't hold anything back; it's a hard game to get through with dry eyes. Narratively it will please those who are looking for a game that allows the player to explore a game world, linear as it is, that merges together perfectly with the game design.

We have a choice-based game that wants to redefine decision-making in games, but after Polarized ends we're left without the risk and reward and ultimately ends up minimizing both itself and its emotional impact.

8.3 / 10.0 - Enter the Gungeon
Apr 5, 2016

Enter the Gungeon not only refines the mechanics of the roguelike shooter, but also introduces an eclectic mix of gameplay features from other genres with skillful execution. With brilliant pixel art, incredible attention to detail, Devolver Digital-esque humour, a wealth of content, and a high level of replayability, this is a brilliant game.

8.3 / 10.0 - Street Fighter V
Feb 15, 2016

Like Ken in his black training shirt, Street Fighter V offers a different fighting experience without losing its soul and essence. If Capcom can fix the frustrating PC issues with the keyboard, this game would truly be impeccable.

There's a charm that sits just under the surface, and sometimes you have to scratch away the filler to get to the good stuff, but when you do, The Division shines in the most beautiful way.

8.3 / 10.0 - Watch Dogs
May 27, 2014

Watch Dogs isn't just another open-world game. It redefines what is possible in the genre and sets new standards which the competition will be hard pressed to match. Here's hoping that this is just the first chapter in the story of ctOS and vigilante hackers, and that Ubisoft can find a convincing way to continue the series in the future. The first piece of DLC, another single-player campaign, has already been confirmed. Chicago is a pretty big place and could still be concealing all kinds of interesting characters we've yet to meet.

8.4 / 10.0 - The Witness

This is an intricate, beautiful, masterfully crafted game that surprises and delights on several fronts. Unfortunately, it also becomes incredibly and relentlessly punishing in a way that could put many off.

The Flame in the Flood's relentlessly real time gameplay combined with an almost exclusive focus on crafting, survival and preparedness makes it a refreshing and unique take on the roguelike. Combined with a low-ploy visual style that's easy on the eyes when it's not downright beautiful, vivid sound design and a mild acoustic soundtrack, this one's got a lot going for it. Be prepared to start over a lot, though.

I had far more fun with Legacy of the Void than I was expecting to. The campaign is excellent, and even as a newcomer, transitioning from the single-player to dabbling in multiplayer was surprisingly smooth. RTS fans past and present should take this opportunity to return to StarCraft, or - even better - join the action for the first time.

The second episode in The Banner Saga retains the gorgeous artwork, strong characters and agonising choices that made the original a success, while adding depth, variety and clarity to the combat.
