A very nice entry into the naval sandbox genre. Perhaps the only entry worth considering, and a great game in its own right. You can explore a vast world and do whatever you please to achieve your goals.
Even though it's an Alone in the Dark game in name only, it still manages to make for a very intense and fun experience, belying the negative user reviews its gotten so far. If you actually play it, you might enjoy it.

Mike Bithell has done it again. Volume is an incredibly entertaining and smart stealth puzzler that will test your brain, even if it doesn't challenge it too much. It's a simple, but extremely effective game that will pose questions in an appealing story without forcing an answer on you. There's an extremely easy to use but effective level creator included to add hours of gameplay through playing through other fun, user-created levels.
A great ARPG and a great entry into the hack n' slash genre. It's compelling and engaging in ways you might not think such games traditionally are.
Broken Sword 5 is a reminder of just how entertaining point and click adventures can be. It might have been a while since they were the cutting edge of the industry, but they are still capable of great stories, gameplay and humour. Broken Sword 5 is an instant classic and well worth playing through.
A wonderful entry into the RTS that's full of promise and has a great future as a multiplayer powerhouse. Act of Aggression should definitely be tried if you're a fan of the genre and want a modern take on a classic story.
Until Dawn is definitely a nice surprise. Despite not being marketed as a huge exclusive like Uncharted or God of War, it's arguably the best one available on PlayStation 4 with the exception of Bloodborne; if you like horror/thriller movies and you don't mind Quick Time Events, you're definitely in for a treat.
An amazingly fun racing sim that can be fine-tuned to be challenging for both the beginner and the seasoned racing veteran. It's fun, addictive and also strikingly gorgeous.
Loads of fun to be had in this great game, though there are other open world games that deserve your attention more... But you should probably spare some time for Mad Max, too.
Armello is a game with some deeply complex but very rewarding mechanics. If you like board games, or want to take your first step into the genre, Armello is one of the best options currently.
Nobunaga's Ambition is an incredibly detailed game. It has a huge barrier to entry but if you can get over it, then the game can and will absorb you. There are weaknesses, the biggest actually being the sheer detail the game goes into when upgrading such as roads, it feels like needless busywork which should be streamlined. By no means is this perfect, there is a lot that could be improved, but for what it offers, Nobunaga's Ambition is well worth looking at. The huge downside is the sheer cost of the game, plus the fact that Koei Tecmo are charging up to half of the original price of the game on extra scenarios.
A fantastic isometric CRPG that has a very well developed story and great varied combat that just might be a bit on the tedious and boring side for those not wanting walls of text to read through.
Super Mario Maker is one of the Wii U's essential games. If you've ever enjoyed a 2D Mario game you owe it to yourself to buy this and get Mario Making!
A great mash-up of sports and turn-based strategy in a fresh and exciting way. If you like anything fantasy and enjoy a good turn-based game, then you're likely to love this, regardless of whether you like sports or not.
Train Valley has surprised in so many ways. An interesting, challenging and detailed game in a lovingly small and pleasing package. Offering hours of track building and train crashing in what seems like it should be a basic package. Pure proof that pumping a product full of extra features, that prove extraneous at best, isn't the way to go.
Endless Legend: Shadows adds a tremendous amount of value for a moderate price. Spying and espionage are actually useful mechanisms here and the new faction adds enough new content to make it a great buy. It's still entertaining, deep, and is very rewarding. Espionage itself is incredibly rewarding.
