4 / 10.0 - Bedlam
Oct 23, 2015

Bedlam unfortunately didn't have very many high points for me, other than having some solid gameplay that was plagued by mediocrity in its world. The sound design was nice, the graphics were lackluster and the overall experience left me wishing for an overall better experience.

4 / 10.0 - Slow Down, Bull
Apr 20, 2015

The concept was cute, but the game wasn't fun at all. The papercraft-like kindergarten art style fits it but it could be executed way better than 5 different backgrounds on the floor and some popsicle sticks as walls. The game gets boring and repetitive and it plays like a game made for mobile, which confuses me as to why it came out on PC, but at least 30% of the sales money will go to charity.

Overall, I cannot stress enough not to buy this game at $40 for the Wii U, unless you're ok with what is basically a portable game being packaged as a full console experience. If Nintendo re-releases this game for the 3DS for $20, go for it. If you see it in a bargain bin for $5, go for it. But whatever you do, don't spend more than that.

Monster Jam Steel Titans is destined for the sale bin. It's too devoid of enjoyment to be worth picking up on eShop, and definitely not worth the strangely staggered physical release that's touted for February. If you're a major petrolhead you may get a portable kick out of it, if not, it's best just to steer clear.

Perhaps I don't appreciate it as it should, but I found this game a woeful yawn-fest. If you want a slow-paced mystery filled lateral-thinking inventory collect-a-thon; this might be up your alley. But if you want thrills and spills and any level of endorphin promoting action; save your time and your money.

My second foray into the World of Darkness franchise unfortunately has left me wanting for more. There's definitely some fun to be had here, but the majority of the game manages to just feel dated and lazy, which makes even the most fun aspects get old before too long. I truly hoped for more from Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood, but what I'm left with is a game that I don't think I'll be re-visiting any time soon.

4.5 / 10.0 - Spirit of the North
May 11, 2020

Not the worst game in the world and although on paper the pros slightly outweigh the cons I'm finding it incredibly hard to really recommend it beyond it being a nice idea.

4.5 / 10.0 - BurgerTime Party
Oct 8, 2019

Whether through loyalty or lethargy, BurgerTime Party! just doesn't do enough with the original arcade game's formula to make this reboot worth checking out.

4.5 / 10.0 - Our World Is Ended

The clashing tones and reoccurring issues make for one messy game that just ends up feeling pretty mediocre in comparison to most visual novels out there. With a couple of changes, this game could have been slightly average at best.

4.5 / 10.0 - V-Rally 4
Jan 26, 2019

I was looking forward to what the V-Rally franchise would bring with its comeback but was disappointed to see dated graphics and harsh controls holding back a once revered series.

Pay-to-Win and Wait-to-Play do not a Triple-A title make. Final rating: $$$ out of 10

4.5 / 10.0 - Here They Lie (VR)
Oct 25, 2016

If you're ready to spend a few hours holding up on your control stick, looking at some colorless environments for shoddy clues that are imperative to the plot, and a lot of head turning for some cheap jump scares, then Here They Lie was made for you. Otherwise, I would not waste the time with it.

4.5 / 10.0 - Syberia 3
May 3, 2017

Syberia 3 is a game that looks and feels old, and not in a good way. The game is infested with technical issues like clunky controls, poor animation and mediocre voice acting that take away any amount of fun that could have been present. It is only barely recommended for those die-hard fans of Kate Walker too eager to keep up to date with her latest adventure; and I'm not sure how much of a fandom will be left after this title...

Developer CI Games attempted to fix many issues of SGW3's predecessors in ways which ultimately confuse and distract the core experience of the game. A barren open world, glitches and long loading times, and needless hand-holding through forced playstyles ruin what fun is to be found in the well-executed core element of the game: sniping.

4.8 / 10.0 - Loot Hero DX
Jan 31, 2021

Loot Hero DX isn't a bad game but it's not all that great either. It's simple, which is its double-edged sword. It's a good time for a little while but eventually its charms wear away. Despite that, at a budget price, its a decent little time sink. However, if you are looking for an indie with a little more depth in either gameplay or story, I would recommend spending your loot elsewhere.

4.8 / 10.0 - Death's Gambit
Oct 2, 2018

The game is simply not finished yet, and while I can definitely see those desperately hungry for this kind of game being able to look past a fair number of its faults, I would sooner recommend the myriad of other titles which scratch the same itch, without nearly as many caveats.

What looks like a fun and beautiful spiritual sequel to the DKC64, SM64 and other bright colorful platformers of old, is more of a bland waterings down of an "adventure".

4.9 / 10.0 - Hellpoint
Mar 21, 2021

Hellpoint is a decent game with some issues of its own and if I had to give the game itself a score, it would be a 7.5 or so. Unfortunately, this port is rife with bugs and I can't really say I recommend it. If you're interested in playing this title, I'd say check it out on a different system. If you got to play on the Switch, wait for a bugfix. Or not and prepare for Hell.

Gameplay and translation issues aside, there is a great idea here that is well presented overall, if a little confusing in its execution. Even if it's difficult to enjoy as a detective experience, the core elements that make up Chronique des Silencieux have merit and could easily be improved in patches, updates and possibly sequels.

Despite having an immersive VR environment and, on paper, an original premise and mechanic, Ziggy's Cosmic Adventures performs a crash landing in practice by failing to properly balance its hybrid gameplay which inevitably becomes overwhelming and frustrating.
