3.6 / 5.0 - LocoCycle

Lococycle brings new meaning to DRAG racing. Take this arcade game in small doses for best results.

In the end, Dead Rising 3 Operation Broken Eagle will take most gamers around 3 hours to successfully complete and that includes collecting dog tags and hacking security cameras along the way. Gameplay is still just as sturdy as the core game but the story nicely links to the tale of Nick Ramos and without spoiling the story, it sets a few interesting elements in motion. However if you're looking for more multiplayer fun, you'll be sorely disappointed with Operation Broken Eagle because this is strictly a single-player affair.

4.3 / 5.0 - Thief

All in all, Thief successfully ticks the right boxes on the PlayStation 4, although it's not a totally next-gen experience.

4.6 / 5.0 - Rayman Legends
Feb 26, 2014

Rayman Legends is an amazing game on the PlayStation 4 that is definitely a must have download from the PSN store. The level design is brilliant and the developers successfully take a 2D game and turn it into something very special on this new next-gen console. Highly Recommended!

Given the lack of quality new titles for the Nintendo Wii U, it's great that Nintendo has come to the rescue with this truly fantastic arcade game that not only plays well (with a few 21st century tweaks) but looks amazing on this next-gen console. It's definitely platforming at its best and if you have a hankering for some truly fun gaming, than Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is the solution. Just be warned though that there could be some controller rage because getting through a level unscathed can sometimes be quite the feat and forget about that assisted help!

4.5 / 5.0 - Titanfall
Mar 15, 2014

Titanfall is definitely a breath of fresh air when it comes to playing online multiplayer and although the story is largely absent in the game, the gaming mechanics really helps in creating a very sturdy gaming experience. Developers Respawn Entertainment should be commended in successfully merging a traditional first person shooter experience with Mechs, especially with the flawless gameplay.

4 / 5.0 - SteamWorld Dig
Mar 19, 2014

SteamWorld Dig is a much needed casual game for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita that features a very addictive and challenging gameplay. Even though the mechanics are simple, by "digging into" the title, pun intended, SteamWorld Dig allows players to explore a wonderful world of treasures and challenges that are hidden for the player to find. It's definitely one for the brain!

Infamous Second Son is easily the best game in the franchise that not only contains superior gaming mechanics but it has some spectacular graphics and special effects that makes the perfect superhero game. The franchise has also flawlessly made the transition to the PS4 that definitely makes this a must have game for the console due to the powerful story and fluid gaming mechanics in this fun open-world superhero title.

I enjoyed this game from start to end. Who’d have thought that Archaeology would be the basis for such a captivating game! Professor Layton provides a wonderful role model for children, adults can enjoy the piece of art that the game is and the world within the series is charming and ever so whimsical. It is a shame that this game marks the end of the series because I really want to see more of these characters, and the puzzles weren’t bad either! One thing I did notice is that

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes is a good game and it's great to see this franchise on both the next-gen consoles. Given the lack of substance in the main campaign, this may deter quite a few players but thankfully the price is a lot lower than most other games on this system. Given that, I'm a little mixed about this game because on one hand, it's Metal Gear Solid but on the other, it's a little clunky and very short, even if you complete all the side quests.

3.5 / 5.0 - Yoshi's New Island
Apr 7, 2014

Yoshi’s New Island while harkening back to the previous titles does not bring much new to the series though it’s an excellent start for someone new to the series. This is not to say however that the game is bad, it is still a solid platformer and that might just be enough for the old hands of the series to pick it up. I definitely recommend it!

Strike Suit Zero Director's Cut is a good game on the XBox One and if you have a hankering for this genre than I do suggest you check out this game. It may not be the most visually impressive game and the difficulty can be a challenge at times but even with its slight flaws, it's a fun game but just a tad repetitive. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing your shields at almost zero and then somehow saving the day with your amazing space craft.

3.8 / 5.0 - LEGO The Hobbit
Apr 14, 2014

LEGO The Hobbit is a fun game with a sturdy gaming engine but it definitely doesn't give this genre anything new. It features some fun cutscenes and follows the first two movies closely and hopefully once the final film has been released, we'll see some additional DLC. So yes, LEGO The Hobbit may not be the greatest game due to its repetition but the humour in the game is really first class and you cannot help but smile and laugh when the silliness begins!

Kinect Sports Rivals is a good game on the Xbox One but it's not the game that successfully turns Kinect into a true gaming medium. I'm sure this will come but for now, it is easily the best motion controlled game on any console and developers RARE have really thought outside the square in terms of translating these real world games onto the Xbox One console. Some games such as a soccer were a little too complicated, especially with the accuracy of the motion controls but other titles such as bowling and jet ski racing almost felt like the real thing.

4.5 / 5.0 - Child of Light
May 3, 2014

Child of Light is a beautifully created game that looks like some lost fairy tale come to life. The UbiArt Engine really enhances the gaming experience, especially the stylised character design and wondrous environments. For a game that appears to be a platformer, Child of Light is definitely not but rather creates an engaging minimalist RPG title. The skills available for your characters are interesting and it's great that it does not limit what your character has access to. The turn based mechanics are solid and I love how Igniculus has the ability to disrupt your enemies turns. Most gamers should be able to polish off this game in around 12 or so hours but if you fight every battle, this will take longer.
