9 / 10.0 - Alwa's Awakening

Alwa's Awakening is exactly what I had hoped I was in for when I booted up the title.

9 / 10.0 - Death Squared
Jul 12, 2017

Death Squared is a nice surprise to the puzzle genre, delivering comic relief at all the right moments. It really does teach you to laugh at yourself, while not taking itself as a video game too seriously. Some great things come in small packages, and this one's got nuts…and bolts. And lasers. And explosions.

9 / 10.0 - Fast RMX
Mar 6, 2017

With the launch of the Nintendo Switch, FAST RMX debuts as a launch title, which is sort of a 'definitive' version of FAST Racing NEO with some fantastic tweaks.

As a package, Treasure Trove is an excellent way to expand a newly-formed Switch library with a wonderful 8-bit platforming package.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still that same gorgeous game filled with great courses, characters, and karts. There are a few new game elements that augment the game slightly, and an awesome battle mode that is instantly addicting, but on the whole, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is almost too similar to the game we fell in love with on the Wii U.

9 / 10.0 - Splatoon 2
Jul 18, 2017

Those that played the original Splatoon will find the sequel feeling familiar. The intuitive mechanics are still as addictive as the first time around, but a larger number of maps and the addition of Salmon Run cements Splatoon 2 as an excellent standalone value. Moreover, the addition of competitive features and promise of ongoing support will ensure players will stick with the game for a while. After all, it was hard enough for me to stop playing online long enough to recommend the game to you.

9 / 10.0 - 20XX
Jul 9, 2018

If you decide to pick up 20XX—you're going to have a bad time. You're going to die, you're going to be frustrated, maybe even throw your controller in a fit of rage. If you're anything like me, you will find small instances of inspiration and confidence to pick up your pad once again and jump back into the fray. And, I couldn't recommend it more for that.

9 / 10.0 - Robonauts
Aug 1, 2018

Robonauts is one of the most fun games I have ever played on the Switch. It is very accessible, vibrant, and great for gamers of all skill sets. Also, its character designs are really fascinating and, in some cases, adorable at the same time.

9 / 10.0 - Road Redemption
Nov 17, 2018

It’s a shame that there isn’t an online community for matches as this would have carried the experience that much farther. But as it stands, there’s enough here to warrant a purchase if you’re looking for an ass-kicking good time on the couch.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is praised because it offers a wonderfully realized world, memorable moments, and near-endless things to do. While in some aspects the Switch version shows its age with dated graphics and stiff animations, it's so easy to look past when there's a vast world in your view with the sense of discovery around every corner. Bethesda succeeded at what most of us would have thought impossible just a few years ago, a full-fledged version of Skyrim that you can take with you anywhere you want; doesn't get much better than that.

Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology is a fantastic JRPG. The expertly-crafted story comes together bit by bit as Stocke and Co. find answers hidden across time. Players will fall in love with the strong cast of heroes and they will come to fear the well-crafted villains.

Bayonetta gets a welcome reissue on Switch. The game's fluid gameplay and tough as nails difficulty remain firmly intact. There's a nice nod to the ecosystem the game now finds itself on with some cool costumes based on Nintendo royalty. Otherwise, it's the same game as before. Overall, I cannot recommend Bayonetta 2 enough, this is a game that every Nintendo enthusiast and gamer should have in their collection.

9 / 10.0 - Raging Justice
May 25, 2018

Raging Justice is the perfect game to run through in a single sitting or try to complete the list of challenges for each level. Fans of the genre will find many resemblances to games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage. There's enough replay value to invite you in—just don't let the difficulty scare you away.

If you're a super-serious racing fan, then Horizon Chase Tubro might come off as being a bit too simplistic. But, I think it strikes a good balance between having a fun arcade feel with some challenging aspects also being present in order to keep you coming back again and again. As stated, I find the Switch version to be the best suited for the task. Thus, I'd arguably consider it to be the definitive version of the game just for the sake of being able to play it at any time.

The Gardens Between is delightful, its soundtrack is beautiful and calming, its art style is pleasing, its characters are charming and expressive, and its story is touching and melancholic, and I found myself truly amazed by the consistently great level design.
