8 / 10.0 - Mad Max
Sep 9, 2015

Mad Max may wind up a victim of its busy release window, but it doesn't deserve to. It's a bombastic blast of thrilling vehicular combat and open-world destruction, only slightly marred by uninspired on-foot combat and limited ambitions when it comes to scope. It may not be the most refined open-world title out there, but it never gets too pretentious and crucially thriving in the wasteland is simply great fun.

Rise of The Tomb Raider is a very good sequel that improves a lot of the issues present in the original but doesn't completely fix them. While definitely flawed in some areas it is undeniably fun and an incredibly strong entry in the franchise.

Tales of Zestiria sticks to a lot of the typical JRPG stereotypes with its plot and characters but it's still an enjoyable ride from start to finish. Sure the linear dungeons can be rather tedious to explore, the camera swings around uncontrollably and some of the characters are a tad on the bland side but the pros far out way the cons. That charmingly beautifully anime art style and deep robust combat system make this title another great instalment in to the Tales series, one that both fans and newcomers will love!

8 / 10.0 - Armello
Sep 10, 2015

Armello is a fun and addicting mesh of genres that never quite reaches greatness due to some quirky balance issues and multiplayer dilemmas, but what's on offer here should please anyone looking to spend some quality time on a modern-day board game.

There is nothing more satisfying in life than mowing down a group of infected with your Buggy. The Following is an exciting expansion to the already amazing base game, Dying Light.

Beneath the stunning visuals there's an interesting deal of mechanics to learn which brings a fresh approach to the fighting genre. It's just a shame there's not more to do, and only having 16 characters is a bit of a let-down when you know the franchise has hundreds more. Pokken Tournament is a must get for any Pokemon fan, replacing the slow battles of the main series and providing us with the fast, energetic duels we've come to see in the Anime and Smash games.

Samurai Warriors 4-II is neither sequel nor expansion but sit's somewhere neatly in the middle. Reusing environments, characters and combat mechanics from the original the narrative has a nice rewrite to make a more engaging character focused story and upgrade mechanics have been revamped to make them easier and more enjoyable to navigate. Fans of the series and even the 4th instalment will still enjoy this, there's enough of a change to make it stand out and it's also a great place to start for those new to the franchise.

Tales from the Borderlands – Episode Four: Escape Plan Bravo may disappoint some players with its lack of in-depth story and character development. However, the episode makes up for any faults with the constant character banter and some truly emotional moments.

8 / 10.0 - Far Cry Primal
Mar 3, 2016

Far Cry Primal is an innovative example of what developers can do to refresh a series. It worked surprisingly well by setting Far Cry all the way back to the Stone Age. It's brutal, relentless and wonderful to hear the thud of a well thrown spear into an enemies's chest.

8 / 10.0 - Squirbs
Jan 15, 2016

Squirbs may not be the brightest or most polished platformer out there, but it's still a lot of fun to play. Figuring out the solution to each devious stage is a blast, and once you complete even a single one, you'll undoubtedly have a smile on your face

AIPD – Artificial Intelligence Police Department brings little novelty to the genre, but it does cement itself as a solid contender in the sea of twin-stick shooters. Its limited customization options and repetitive game modes can occasionally get in the way, but its fantastic visuals and pulsating gameplay ensure that every wave of enemies is a hell of a lot of fun to blast to pieces

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire looks great and is a lot of fun to play, with just the right blend of old and new, as well as a much more in-depth game environment. It does seem to be easier than the original, but overall is a very successful remake.

The first foray into the world of Telltale Games Batman is full of mystery, intrigue and a hard edged adult portrayal of the world. Its technical issues bring the experience down, however, this first entry its the ground running with an interesting story and gives a first episode that not only is gripping but also left me salivating for more.

King of Fighters 14 is rough around the edges and is certainly not a perfect game, but what it lacks in graphics and compelling story it more than makes up for in gameplay. Delivering some of the best fighting in the series to date with fresh takes on old mechanics, any fighting game fan would be missing out if they judged King of Fighters 14 by its graphical punch.

7.9 / 10.0 - Sickness
Feb 25, 2016

Sickness is sinister, violent and bloody yet it's one you'll find hard to put down. It's a real stand out title from the visual novel genre, with much more brutality than romance. The protagonist for the most part can be very unlikeable as he takes some repulsive actions to which you don't have a choice over, but the rest of the narrative and characters more than make up for it. A must read for any visual novel fans looking for a bit of variation in their library.

7.9 / 10.0 - Project X Zone 2
Feb 26, 2016

Project X Zone 2's overall plot is pretty basic, but the focus is clearly meant to be on the numerous gaming characters, and their humorous banter with each other. The mixture of RPG combined with strategy and fighting in the combat gives the game a unique feel, even if the formula does get a bit repetitive at times.

7.9 / 10.0 - Hero and Daughter+
Mar 9, 2016

Hero and Daughter+ utilises an interesting core mechanic that makes for a refreshing RPG. Much of the combat and art style is straight from RPG Maker, which may put off a lot of players. However, the dialogue is full of humour, and there are plenty of optional side missions to keep things interesting, making the overall gameplay an engaging experience.

7.8 / 10.0 - Teslagrad
Apr 19, 2015

Teslagrad is a unique game, cleverly telling a thought-provoking story without any dialogue or verbal narrative, supported by beautiful aesthetics. If the game had been trusted to tell its tale, supported by the clever electromagnetic puzzles, then it would have been a truly excellent game. Unfortunately, the frustrating platforming sections and incongruously punishing boss battles slightly mar the experience and hold Teslagrad back from true greatness.
