Mekazoo does an excellent job of carving out its own identity, combining a unique aesthetic with mechanics that combine low level puzzle-solving and basic platforming mechanics. While we’ve certainly seen many of the elements on display in Mekazoo , I can’t think of any that managed to repurpose basic aspects of the platforming experience in such a unique manner.
Given how strong the writing has been for the previous three Batman episodes, I’m still incredibly excited to see how this whole season will wrap up. Unfortunately, Guardian of Gotham didn’t really do much to make me more excited.
While the sequel is a definite improvement over the original, the improvements are coming in baby steps, not leaps and bounds. A great first step would be to make a game that has a proper tone, because Watch Dogs 2 feels like it doesn’t know what it is.
The biggest question I keep coming back to in between moments of awe and terrible frustration is, 'Is The Last Guardian any fun to play?' Ultimately, I feel like it isn't. The gameplay is too purposefully obstructed, too deliberately designed to be rough around the edges.
With a long, but interesting and engaging story, side content on top of side content and fun brawling gameplay, Yakuza 0 is a great game that is definitely worth the price. While gameplay could be a bit smoother between transitions and the story can feel like it's dragging a bit, there's still plenty to appreciate.
All in all, this game pack is substantial. It's a generous amount of content for a reasonable price that adds a ton of depth to gameplay, even if you're not the biggest Vampire fan.
If you're a longtime fan of the series, or just someone looking for a top-notch sniping experience without having to wade into competitive multiplayer, we can't think of any reason to skip out on Sniper Elite 4.
Horizon Zero Dawn doesn't redefine open world RPGs but it absolutely raises the bar for future additions to the genre. Few projects successfully weave all of their disparate parts together into something both unique and interesting. Guerilla managed to do both in its first non-FPS release while simultaneously incorporating many of those (still optional) parts into the core story.
Overall, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a must-own game for fans and non-fans of the franchise, especially if you're planning to get a Nintendo Switch. Its huge open world and engaging story gives the title an epic scale that hasn't been seen in a Nintendo game for quite some time.
There are already too many titles vying for gamers' attention, and it's only March, but I'd make damn sure NieR: Automata isn't one of the games you miss this year.
Despite all of the flaws with bugs, graphics, story and everything else, Mass Effect: Andromeda is still a wonderful game and something very special. Just like the characters in the game, Andromeda establishes a bold new start for the series, and builds a foundation for even greater things to come.
If you're looking for a fun little gift for younger players or if you are hankering for some casual Mario sports action you don't have to look further than this game.
Overall, Has-Been Heroes is a very enjoyable experience, despite the difficulty level. While I wouldn't recommend this game for younger gamers as they will probably get too frustrated, this is definitely something players with patience can really sink hours and hours into.
Despite it's flaws, Final Fantasy XV is a milestone achievement: not just for being completed, but for being completed with polish, aplomb and love.
If you're a diehard FPS fan looking for something new, or just someone who'd like to revisit Bulletstorm, I'd absolutely recommend adding Full Clip Edition to your collection.
For the first chapter in a new series, Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't make you want to keep going. Hopefully the story can pick up in the next chapters to let Guardians stand shoulder to shoulder with the other great Telltale games.
Puyo Puyo Tetris won't make converts out of those uninterested in Puyo Puyo or Tetris . Neither has been changed substantially for their latest outing. But those who still enjoy the occasional round of either puzzle game shouldn't hesitate to add the new mash-up to their PS4 or Switch collection.
If you enjoyed the first Dragon Quest Heroes , there's little reason to believe you won't love the sequel too.
Persona 5 isn't just the best game I've played this year, it's the best game I've played in years. And I can't wait to do it all again.
There will be some who enjoy The Surge. Sadly, I was not one of them.
