4 / 5 - Anomaly 2
May 15, 2013

Like I said, Anomaly 2 is pretty much more Anomaly but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Anomaly 2 will scratch that itch you likely have for reverse tower defense games and with a longer campaign, new units, plus multiplayer you'll definitely be satisfied with what this game brings to the table.

3.5 / 5.0 - Neverwinter
Jun 25, 2013

Neverwinter isn't going to be that game that pulls me into the MMO world, but it did a damn better job than many other MMO's out there. The setting is interesting enough and the combat slightly engaging which makes it worth giving a try, but it's going to be the Foundry that keeps players going.

3 / 5 - Deadpool
Jul 3, 2013

Deadpool is a solid enough action game, but if Deadpool himself isn't your cup of tea you might not want to bother picking this game up.

Rayman Legends is a game that deserves to be played by everyone. The art style and music are some of my favorite from this generation, and compliment each other outstandingly. If you are looking to get the best experience grab the 360 or PS3 version, but the Vita and Wii U versions are only slightly inferior. The extensive amount of content will make sure you lose yourself for days.

Episode One of The Wolf Among Us is dark and beautiful at the same time. The game scratches a crime noir itch even though the detective work is on the lighter side. While we will have to wait until the end of the season to see how impactful the different decision branches are, Telltale does a great job at making the choices feeling meaningful while not presenting a clear path. The voice acting is strong, the art is beautiful. If you like adventure games with a dark story, it would be remiss of you to not play The Wolf Among Us.

4 / 5 - Blackguards
Feb 5, 2014

January had quite a surprising amount of turn based strategy RPG's release and despite its slight flaws Blackguards is definitely one you should play.

Lords of Shadow 2 is a competent, and sometimes great, action game that's unfortunately bogged down by some horrid tacked on stealth moments and a story that doesn't really seem to know what it wants. Fans of the previous game will likely enjoy the game though and I'm sure anyone who's looking for a solid action game will find something enjoyable here if they can rough it through the shaky opening.

Second Son is a fantastic game that improves upon its predecessor in almost every way but a weak story, repetitive side missions, and an even weaker cast of side characters keep it from being something truly amazing.

Beenox still hasn't seemed to grasp what everyone wants from a Spider-Man game and I still can't tell if it's because of their rushed development time that's the issue or the developers themselves. Fans of Spider-Man will still likely find some enjoyment here since the web swinging, while still nowhere near as good as past games, is definitely a step up from modern Spider-Man titles.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is easily some of the most fun I've had with a shooter in recent memory and shows that you can easily mix old and modern shooter mechanics together into something that's a total blast to play.

While it's much less grand in scope compared to its predecessors, Anomaly Defenders is still a pretty decent tower defense game that fans of the genre will likely enjoy if they don't mind it not doing much new.

2.5 / 5.0 - Monochroma
Jun 22, 2014

Monochroma could have been something really interesting but its wonky controls and weak gimmick leave it in the pool of other mediocre indie platformers.

Despite some minor gripes, Divinity: Original Sin is easily one of the best RPGs in years and every hour I spend with it has it slowly climbing its way into my list of all time favorite RPGs.

Lovely Planet is a really neat game that's unfortunately peppered with the occasional cheap feeling levels.

The Ultimate Evil Edition is the best version of Diablo III that I have played. Even if you have already played a lot of the game on PC, there is a lot of new content mixed in with the engaging Diablo III systems.

3 / 5 - Minimum

Minimum's a neat shooter with some nifty ideas but the lack of game modes and various issues prevent it from fully reaching its potential.

Dance Central Spotlight is a great Kinect game on Xbox One with excellent body tracking and feedback. The lack of included tracks and modes makes it a lesser experience than previous titles but it's not a deal breaker. The small amount of starting songs is a bummer, but Harmonix has continuously proven its DLC support, as long as you don't mind throwing down some extra cash.

Crimes and Punishments is a great adventure game that's unfortunately plagued with iffy clues, an unrealized morality system, and puzzles that that get a bit repetitive.

Through incredibly slow improvements each Skylanders game gets better than the last and you've got to wonder how long Activision can keep this successful train going before it loses steam. Till then, Trap Team is the best Skylanders to play if you're interested in taking the plunge.

There's a brilliant game hidden deep inside Styx: Master of Shadows but a lack of item variety, shoddy controls, and a horrid combat system keep its potential buried deep.
