Marooners' Rock
HomepageMarooners' Rock's Reviews
If you’re looking for a polished and full-fledged experience, look elsewhere. The games aren’t perfect, but there are definitely hours of enjoyment for a measly $7 USD.
Instead of giving this review a numerical value, I’m just going to say this; buy it. You’ll thank me later.
Conception II isn’t all bad: it’s just really raunchy without managing to be funny, and the rest of the game is very drab and never pushes the envelope far enough to be considered unique. Whatever those choices may be, it takes a lot of chutzpah to make any type of decision, no matter how big or small. If you decide to play this game, there are only two likely reactions you will have. Either you will think it is just boring and trashy, or you will want to cuddle up with your waifu pillow, shove your stack of hentai mags aside and flip open your 3DS to submerge yourself in the world of Conception II and classmate endlessly with its freakishly proportioned heroines.
Scram Kitty and His Buddy On Rails is addictive, pick-up-and-play fun. It can get frustrating, but in a time when so many games keep trying to be both more complicated and similar to others, it is a refreshing change.
Just stay away, no jokes, no clever word play, just don’t do it.
Unfortunately, in its current state, I cannot recommend Forma.8 to anyone, even the most hungry fans of the Metroidvania genre. There are better games in that genre that explore similar feelings of isolation and there are better games on Switch that evoke that nostalgic feeling of older systems.
Really, there’s not much good I can find with Mark McMorris Infinite Air. The control system is frustrating beyond belief, and the game provides minimal guidance when it comes to figuring it out and moving forward.
The game forces one to grind levels in a generic way while offering little satisfaction when hitting a milestone.
In the end, Rodea the Sky Soldier probably should've just come out years ago, in its original form. The controls, we're willing to bet, are way better with the Wii remote, as they simply feel like garbage the way they stand now.
Fans may be curious, but, honestly, any given Animal Crossing experience (even, in some respects, Happy Home Designer) would be better than what this pale little board game-based hoopla has to offer.
Unfortunately, Kawaii Dethu Desu, despite its lovely visuals, is comparable to the free, mindless games that you might find on that virus-ridden website Addicting Games.
This one could have used more development time and I really hope that whatever game development is done next with My Hero Academia learns from these mistakes.
For anyone looking for a solid platforming experience, I would avoid Trial by Viking like the plague.
I’ve played a lot of anime games through the years with varying degrees of enjoyment, but I don’t even think being a super fan of the Asterisk War franchise would entice me to play Phoenix Fiesta any more than I already have.
You may be tempted to make the rounds with NASCAR Heat Evolution, but, honestly, you’re better off just watching the races at home.
The budding scientist in all of us might confuse the title of the newest Sonic game with the booming sound associated with the shock waves. Much like when Sonic blasts out of his famous Spin Boost, a sonic boom is created by an object traveling faster than the speed of sound. Unfortunately, the only thing booming has been the resounding and collective "MEH" that was heard as Sonic fans both young and old checked out this game.
There’s nothing horribly wrong with the gameplay or the mechanics. It’s just kind of generic, an overgrown mobile game that can’t distinguish itself from the pack.
There are some cool ideas in Redeemer but they just don’t come together in an enjoyable way. Hopefully, a more refined sequel will put Vasily in a better light. For now, his defiant echoes through the mountains will likely fall on deaf ears.
Whipseey and the Lost Atlas looks and sounds like what I would want in a game emulating a classic platformer, but it lacks the finesse that made those platformers great to begin with.
Phantom Trigger, at least the Switch version, should’ve been delayed.
