This game is the definition of a mixed bag for me. This game is what you get when you mix amazing talent (music, art) with a rushed timetable and an unremarkable story and writing style. There are a lot of aspects that made me feel I was playing an Early Access or Beta game, but this has been indeed released, and it's selling for 30 bucks. Considering the amount of content and the quality of the experience, the score suffers, because it does not live up to a $30 game. The bads are not terrible and luckily the goods are really good, so I can go slightly above 5 with this one. If you don't mind about bland story and bad dialogues and are itching for a short and sweet colossus fighter with aerial combat, then pick this one up. Although, maybe when it goes on sale.

5.5 / 10.0 - Where's Samantha?
Mar 29, 2021

Love is powerful, and a driving force for George as he sets out for a strange world in search of his beloved Samantha. Something about the absurd setting rings eerily familiar, filled with familiar objects and clones abound. Does it mean anything? Will finding Samantha only be the beginning of George's struggles?

5.5 / 10.0 - Orangeblood
Oct 20, 2020

Come on into New Koza, a man-made island off the coast of Okinawa, in Orangeblood. A stylish hip-hop-inspired JRPG marred by clunky battles and dreadful dialogue. Gorgeous to look at and overall has a good vibe, but it's just not enough to save it.

5.5 / 10.0 - POSTAL Redux
Oct 16, 2020

POSTAL Redux brings the original controversial shooter to arguably the most family-friendly of consoles. Remastered visuals, expanded content, and new portability means that there are many new things for returning fans, but anything that could be viewed in a positive light is marred by the offensive content that's advertised and encouraged. Who is this game for?

5.5 / 10.0 - Marvel's Avengers
Sep 22, 2020

Originally revealed in early 2017, Marvel's Avengers was showcased right on time. The Avengers films were the hottest topic on the lips of all of society. Fans hoped that Crystal Dynamics could deliver an experience that mirrors the success of the films. While the foundation is promising, the core of the game is seriously lacking soul. Rendering an experience that isn't consistently attractive or personable.

5.5 / 10.0 - Liberated

A cyberpunk noir comic book in video game form sounds like a recipe destined for greatness. Unfortunately, in the video game industry, a perfect recipe doesn't always make for a perfect outcome. A unique art style can only carry a game so far.

5.5 / 10.0 - Warlander
Mar 15, 2020

Warlander is a roguelike action-adventure developed and published by Clock Drive Games. It has a unique game play, taking inspiration from a lot of popular games like God of War, Dark Souls and Jedi: Fallen Order. With a unique stamina based tactical swordplay, procedurally generated world and a variety of abilities and upgrades, Warlander is definitely one of the most ambitious indie games of 2020.

As a first attempt at a new genre, Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists is not a complete failure. Everything functions as it should, and outside of the time limits it's not an overly complicated game. However, it ultimately fails as a celebration of Atelier's 20th anniversary. The hallmarks of the series such as exploration and synthesis have been simplified drastically, and the characters taken from previous games are underutilised by both the story and gameplay. This might not be the worst way to introduce someone to town building and simulation games, though it will likely fall short of Atelier fans' expectations.

All in all, it’s a simple turn-based JRPG with a unique setting and silly mechanic for leveling up the cast, with some fairly generic presentation in terms of sound and the art for the overworld, with the quality coming in from the unique character interactions, setting and punishment scenes. Fans of whipping cute girls will find it very enjoyable, while some of the more hardcore JRPG fans might find the combat system interesting enough to give it a run through, but for anyone else, it’s hard to recommend. There’s not much there for people who aren’t JRPG fans already in terms of being able to bring in new players, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

It’s hard to say anything bad about Demetrios – The Big Cynical Adventure. The game is the project of a single guy, and the amount of effort put into the game is certainly commendable. The humor, while crass and immature, is great for people who can laugh at these kinds of jokes and gags. But the game has a lot of issues, some of which are nigh impossible to ignore. Gameplay is perhaps the most serious offender, with most of the puzzles and minigames offering little to no challenge whatsoever. A significant portion of the jokes fall flat, with a special cringe award going to the numerous unfunny references to other games like Uncharted and Call Of Duty. The toilet humor is simply not clever enough, and we highly recommend lowering or turning it off in the settings. Audio design is also not up to par, with a number of missing elements that become more noticeable over time. We would recommend this purchase to people who like old-school adventure games, don’t mind toilet humor and can overlook the game’s many faults. If you don’t fall under any of these categories, then you might want to re-evaluate your choice before you purchase this game.
