iO is not a complicated game. If anything, you (as the player) are the most complicated element in the equation as the protagonist, a wheel left to the merciless truth of physics, gravity, and momentum.
Telltale for the most part has nailed the essence of the Guardians of the Galaxy and their relationships with each other and the galaxy. Outside of a few technical issue such as a bad camera during certain gameplay segments, it's a fun first foray into Telltale's take on the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Last Day of June is a beautiful looking narrative driven game that suffers a bit from repetition, but if you can get past that it has an emotionally charged tale to experience.
Songbringer is a beautiful and vast procedurally generated wonderland created by developer Wizard Fu. If you crammed the original Zelda and Dark Souls into a jar and then poured a procedurally generated fluid over the top, you’d have Songbringer. This game will have you locked in for hours with adventure, action, and a little frustration for good measure.
Vampyr offers up a very intriguing take on the iconic monster, while also offering up one of the deepest morality systems ever featured in an action-RPG. This is a game worth experiencing.
Engrossing as it is difficult (whether or not said difficulty was intended by ACE Team), Abyss Odyssey successfully captures the imagination lying dormant in the minds of its players.
Although Mankind Divided has stunning visuals and gameplay, a disjointed narrative and bugs hold it back from being one of the best games of the decade.
Some of the best science fiction writing occurs when the author takes a world that the reader is familiar with, but changes some aspects to set the story. This doesn’t need to be some far-fetched imaginary science theory that we just need to accept though, for example in Isaac Asimov’s short story Nightfall, the setting is similar to current day, only the planet has multiple suns meaning that they never (in theory) experienced night time, the entire way of life revolves around this. P.O.L.L.E.N takes a similar approach.
Rise of Iron is a nice addition to the Destiny-verse, but it's a bit overpriced if you're just buying the expansion. Although, if you haven't played the game yet, the $60 bundle is definitely a value.
The Turing Test is a great first person puzzler with an intriguing sci-fi inspired narrative. Its gameplay is a bit repetitive early on and the ending is a bit too open ended for my tastes, but overall it's a solid FPP worth experiencing for just $20.
The scale of Minecraft: Story Mode‘s story is reaching a startling height, and I personally became far more enraptured by the transpired events found in this episode than in the previous six.
Despite the fact that you can easlity bored with Reigns, it sould be noted that this game was a lot of fun to play. Each you play, you are a little wiser and know what you will need to do in order to keep the kingdom balanced. $2.99 is a great price for a game that tests you on many different levels.
The overarching tale of 'Virginia' is more than just about a missing persons investigation. It doesn't take long for the player to tumble their way down through conspiracy and moral conundrums under the guise of rookie FBI agent Anne Tarver. While the plot leads the way and keeps the player on the edge of their seat, the gameplay itself is incredibly minimal with little ways to explore.
Seasons After Fall is not so much about being directed as it is about finding direction.
If you’re just looking to kill sometime with a fun game, or if you want to challenge yourself to becoming a master at it, Clustertruck has you covered.
Mix together 300+ unique enemies with seven bosses, base defense mechanics, a great story, and plenty of weapons and gear available to defend yourself, and there is a formula for success. Some graphical issues and long build times hold Toy Odyssey back from being even better.
Telltale continues to weave its Batman tale in New World Order, which is quite short and devoid of interesting gameplay, but still a worthy entry thanks to it continuing the interesting Batman/Bruce narrative.
The Good Knight serves as a respectable close to The Odd Gentlemen's King's Quest series, and while some of the puzzles are very vague, others shine as does the narrative.
Yooka-Laylee delivers on almost every front. I love the nostalgic feeling you get from playing this one. If Playtonic was able to up the frames on these graphics a little bit to save it from the Kickstarter game sickness, it would have been even better. Yooka-Laylee is a game that I will enjoy for myself and also one that I can show my kids when they grow up. I love this game and I think that you will too!
I was a huge fan of the original SUPERHOT, and now after playing the VR version, which is an entirely new experience, my fandom has only been strengthened for this unique FPS puzzle game. Let’s just say it definitely can make you feel like Neo dodging bullets in the Matrix, and for me that’s enough of a reason alone to try it out. With that being said you should still check out my full review below in video or scripted format.
