Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is a masterpiece in the world of 2D platformers and is easily the best one out there to date. I will go as far to say that Tropical Freeze is easily better than any of the New Super Mario Bros games, and that Donkey Kong is truly the King of the genre.
At the end of the day Persona 5 is the perfect dance of gameplay, music, story and design that mixes together to be the pinnacle of the JRPG genre and the best entry in the Persona series, and maybe even Shin Megami Tensei, to date.
Overall, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is a phenomenal game. I have no real complaints about this game at all, every minor grievance I had I was able to overlook due to how well this game is strung together. My only regret is that I never played this game sooner.
There isn't much to not like about this game. Truthfully, this the ultimate Hatsune Miku game to own - especially if you're new to Vocaloids. With this game you'll see a ton of classics such as Love is War, The World is Mine, Ievan Polkka. If you're a long time fan of the series, sure, you've more than likely seen and played all of these songs before, but having them all in one spot with fresh coat of paint is a real treat.
Yakuza 0 is a must have for any fan of the Yakuza series, and the game is an awe-inspiring starting point for those who want to get into the series for the first time to see what Yakuza is all about. From the fluid combat, amazing story and the extensive amount of combat, Yakuza 0 can easily be one of the greatest games on the PlayStation 4, and is easily one of the greatest games that 2017 has to offer right now.
When all is said and done, this visual novel is absolutely incredible through and through. Again, having no VA on a console VN is a shame, but the game is just fine without it. The camera work is superb while admittingly the amount of motion blur in some shots are definitely a bit much in some situations. But other than that, I can’t give any praise higher to a work like this. The use of Live Action truly elevated what would be considered just another good visual novel. Everything here is just spectacular.
Overall, Steins;Gate 0 is an exceptional experience and should be on the radar of any visual novel fan. If you’re not a fan of the genre you won’t find much here to enjoy due to how the story centralizes around reading text, but for those who are, you’re in for a treat.
Overall, Persona 4 Dancing All Night is an excellent send off for the Persona 4 cast as we venture into Persona 5. Despite the game having only 26 tracks, the game makes up for it with its enticing story, and the ability to play each song in several different ways adds a lot of replay value to each individual song.
The game is fantastic through and through. It is honestly my favorite Corpse Party entry in the franchise and just as easily my favorite in the horror genre as a whole.
Overall, Superdimension Neptune vs. SEGA Hard Girls is an amazing experience. The writing in this game is some of the best in the entire series, the combat changes are a welcome refresher to the series, the music in this game is on point and, overall, IF is a kickass protagonist.
At the end of the day “Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns” is a marvelous game to celebrate the series 20th anniversary, and truly exceeded all my expectations. Long time fans will truly get a lot out of this game, and for newcomers I can easily recommend this game to you if you want to dive into the series for the first time. This game is easily one of the best games in the series to date.
Yakuza Kiwami honestly rides on the thin line between remake and reimagining of a classic game. It keeps all of the original story beats and brings the games visuals into the modern-day while incorporating a lot of the newer games mechanics without hampering the original games integrity. This game is honestly the best way to experience the original Yakuza.
Overall, this collection is very good, adding cool new features, giving a superior experience to past releases, and just being standout games. No better time to jump in than with a third game coming. Sixty dollars is pretty steep even with two games, but they are worth every penny. Do yourself a favor, and experience these games.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish and some of the plot twists and turns will leave you speechless at times. For longtime fans of the series, you will appreciate everything this game has to offer. For newcomers, this is a fantastic entry point for this series. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a game that will not leave my mind for a long time to come.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 has easily become one of my favorite games in the Yakuza series. From the action packed story, to the overabundance of side content provided, to the ability to play as Majima again, I honestly have a game that keeps me wanting to come back for more and more, and never want to put the controller down.
Megadimension Neptunia Victory II is the best game in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series to date. I can easily recommend this game to any and all PS4 owners who are JRPG fans, or people who never really got into Neptunia and wanted to give it another go.
At the end of the day, this is an absolutely fantastic game that’s only bogged down by its animations. However, at the same time, this is a wonderful example of where the technical problem they couldn’t get down doesn’t harm the enjoyment of the whole. What does harm the game’s overall enjoyment is just how lost one might be if they didn’t go through the previous games. Even so, while this potentially ends the franchise with a weird bang, it’s a bang nonetheless.
At the end of the day, Fairy Fencer Advent Dark Force is a must-have for fans of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, or JRPG fans wanting to find a good game to invest into. People who have already played the original Fairy Fencer will find plenty more to do in this version of the game and is worth double dipping for sure.
For JRPG enthusiasts looking for a great challenge, and a surprisingly deep yet simple story, I can fully recommend this game to you. This game will have you on your toes, as you plot your way through battle making you think of many different strategies to overcome your foes. And with the many different ways you can play this game, the game truly becomes an example of your destination always being the same, but the path you take to get there can be different each and every time.
